not wishing to start a non league nigel argument but did forest not state before thry sacked BD that they would only be recruiting from the lower leagues this and next season to balance the books a bit?
Now we all know thats what Derby have had to do with many being a waste of time, but we seem to be coming out the other end now...i hope.
When you look at players like Nicky Maynard being linked with you then I would just be patient. If you got him he is a craking player...the type that gets you promoted in a decent side.
Mclaren will bring in players from his contacts here and abroad.
Too many clubs like Leicester are chucking money at it through private investment and not the club generating the cash. When will the rules change so its all more competative for all to challenge and not just the rich?
I'm not in the worried camp at all. I have read comments on other boards where Forest fans are almost manic in their condemnation of MA/ND and their lack of signings. What do fans want? We could go the fester route and throw good money after bad on players of not good quality, £5m on Matt Mills, get real, £2m would have been expensive. This would not be good for Forest, to get into a bidding war over Nicky Maynard would be suicidal. It's like going to an auction with a budget of a couple of million and spending 5 million, you would soon go under if you kept that up. We haven't lost much yet, the only player I was sorry to lose was Earnie, he will get goals in this league, but the rest were only fringe players making up squad numbers. SMc will get players in, he has the contacts and will use them. The board are protecting us from wasting our money, which is in very limited supply compared to others who are quite willing to gamble all then declare bankruptcy to get out of it. I don't want Forest to do that and if we need to go down the route of youth and the academy, so be it. at least we will have a club to support in the future.
The thing is the players have only been back a week, so he needs to have a look at them first to see what is needed. He'll know that there are positions to be filled and a squad that is light on numbers and so will want to address this asap.
But its all well and good looking at old footage to see how the players plays but its about personalities, leaders etc. too and until you know what balance you have in the dressing room you dont really want to just go out bidding for anyone.
Im as frustrated as anyone when you see the likes of Leicester drafting in left right and centre, but I remain optimistic that there is genuine support for SM unlike BD and so there will be a fair few faces in the coming weeks.
I think the biggest cause of anxiety is that we have messed up time after time in the transfer market and we dont want a repeat but I do feel that the AP - although slow - arent stupid enough to commit footballing suicide and not sort us out.
I hope thats not the kiss of death now...
Take your boots to the first game and i hear you might get a run out
Danns and Nugent both free agents............
Didn't dee them heading your way?
You are still the same small provincial Club that Clough and Taylor took over.
nugent is terrible though
Sven is pants. He is only in England for the money. Spends loads of it and still does nothing. Schteve is a much better manager in my opinion.

Read again Thick Ray i said Danns and Nugent on a free!
As for proper fans- that is correct and once again averaged more fans than Notts Forest did last season and we also have the well supported Leicester Tigers who get around 20'000 every home game. Whats your excuse? Notts County? FFS
Always will be 'The small provincial Club'

Florist last silverware 32 years ago can any of you remember that?
Leicester - last silverware 2000 and two cups in the last 13 years.
Ask your Grandad he'll tell you all about good old Florist of the 70's

Even Coventry fans aren't envious of Leicester.

And it took you 37 minutes to come up with that after your previous comment!

How stupid?? I'm 45 and I was there in the Clough/Taylor era, I'm not a grandad. I've seen us win and lose at Wembley when the League Cup meant something.
We may be only a small provincial club, but what are you?? Just the same as us but with less silverware.
I'm not bragging, we know our club's histories, we've both been down in level 3 and up in the top flight and I daresay we'll both be up again at some point.
When will you learn that it doesn't make one difference how much money a club spends, someone will always spend more, unless you're Man City or Chelsea maybe.
