England players in Spanish squad?

Hmm it's difficult because we have more players injured. In midfield only Wilshere would have a chance because he is the only one close to the technical level of the midfielders in the spain squad.

In defence, Cole would get in, so would Terry IMO. Johnson is a good shout because they're not blessed in the RB position but it's debatable because Johnson does not attack like Spanish full backs attack. Johnson is ok attacking wise with the ball at his feet. Spain play in a way which doesn't require the full back to have the ball too much. They just make runs in behind the defence and the likes of Xavi and Iniesta will find them. Their fullbacks nearly always end up in shooting distance.

Rooney would get in ahead of Negredo and would probably start.

That's it.

It isn't just that no English players would get into the Spanish squad, it is that there are 4 or 5 players who aren't in the squad that would be starters for England.

It's embarrassing really. The coaching at young ages in this country is atrocious.

Thiago, Muniain, Soldado, Arteta and even Raul (terrific last season) could start for England imo and they don't even make the spanish squad.

Saying that Hart would make the bench and Rooney could start if they want to play with a striker for once.

Terry, Cole are either too old/not technical enough to make the Spain team. They don't need great defenders because they have the ball for 65 of the 90 minutes and when they don't have it, the ball is still in the oppositions half.

I said out of the Euros squad.

But I agree Wilshere could get in. In fact out off all the English midfielders, he's probably the only one that can.

There's no way Terry would start ahead of Pique/Ramos, Spain play an incredibly high line; he'd be woefully exposed

no midfielders that's for certain

Rio would start IMO. He's better than anyone at the tournament from England at centrehalf.

Hart backup to Cassilas

Johnson > Arbeloa

Rooney practically plays in midfield so I'm not sure how he'd fit in but he'd definitely make the side.

Cole would be in with a shout.

I think our defence is a good as Spain's, although Johnson is definitely a weakness.

Midfield is a non-contest.

Rooney might be in with a shout as a forward, he's better than Torres.

Johnson > Arbeloa

are you serious?

Jonhson is terrible Arbeloa can defend and attack way better than him.

No one in this sqaud bar Hart and possibly Rooney would get in the Spanish sqaud.

Don't make me laugh. Wilshere ahead of who exactly?
Xavi, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Xabi Alonso , David Silva, Santi Cazorla, Cesc Fabregas, Juan Mata. All of these are miles better than Wilshere.

none of our midfield would make the bench of the B team

It's absurd looking at their depth

Wilshere is good enough to be in that squad. He is the best English midfielder by far. Such a shame he's been injured.

Against Barca over two legs, he matched Xavi and Iniesta. He could probably get in ahead of Carzola, just about.

It's a matter of opinion.

John Terry is class. Just because he's the biggest out there doesn't mean he's not good.

Hart, Rooney, Cole, Terry, Parker

If you look at it, quite a few England players could get in the Spannish squad.

Spain have no good keepers. I'd not only say Hart but Green could also sneak into the bench.

Johnson and Terry could definitely make the team. Terry as captain Id say.

Midfield, well I cant see past Milner and Downing making it in there. Also think The Ox has played enough to get capped for Spain. And Henderson.

Finally up front. Well Rooney is better than the entire Spannish team, hed get in. And Carroll has proven more than Torres so Id say hed make it in. And Id say Defoe and Wellbeck are on par with Mata and Pedro, so Id say choose 1 from each nationality to make it fair.

Dont be silly.
The lad is still a prospect, no more than that.
Im sure if Spain are looking for a player who can run around in circles with the ball, before laying it off backwards, they will be on the blower to young Jack, to see if he has any Spanish ancestors, quick smart.

Wilshire matched Xavi and Iniesta

I can't wait for Wilshire to return from injury. People are going to realise he isn't as good as he is being made out to be.

You clearly don't know much about football then. Terry is a better centre back than both Pique and Ramos. Defensively he is much better than both of them.

And those who say Wilshere won't get into the squad, it's an acceptable opinion because there are plenty of quality midfielders in their squad but please don't say 'on the basis of what?' In that one season he has had with us so far, he was brilliant throughout and showed his class at the emirates and the nou camp. The spainsh media was constantly talking about him during that week, the impact he made was superb. Yes he still has a lot to prove but talent wise, he is up there.

Wilshere wouldn't get anywhere near the Spain squad.

Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Alonso, Fabregas, Cazorla etc. There's too much quality in their squad.

You probably think Gerrard is better than him, maybe even Lucas??

I know Liverpool fans don't know what a good midfielder is these days, having been getting used to laughable players such as Adam, Spearing, Henderson, Lucas and the past-it Gerrard

Kamran, don't you agree though that Terry would walk into their squad? Better defensively than Ramos and Pique comfortably imo.
