Vertonghen I'm not that bothered about, but Sigurdson has looked good when I've seen him. I wouldn't mind getting either, although I wouldn't be distraught either.

TBOK, Vertonghen said live on the Dutch version of match of the day that it would be a dream to play for Arsenal and that he would be flattered to play alongside somebody like Koscielny or Vermaelen. If we make a bloody effort we can get him!!!
How would Vertonghen take us to the next level? Please elaborate. We have one fantastic centre-half in Koscielny and Vermaelen and Mertesacker are both very good as well. As for Sigurdsson, I wouldn't mind him coming, but if we go for an attacking midfielder I think we should be doing better than him.
Both Vertonghen and Sig are good players, but they are not vital to our success by any means.

Vertonghen wants first team football he wont get that at Arsenal or at a big club
Sigurdsson was scouted by Arsenal according to Northan Bank Lower but deemed not good enough
Transfers involved 3 parties buying club, selling club and the player
Winds me up when fans go "Oh Arsenal have got £50M to spend"
Its not a bloody supermarket you cant just go and buy what you want!
I want us to sign Younes Belhanda. He's a class act.
I reckon we could have tried getting Belhanda and Giroud for a combined fee of £25 million.
100 Per cent Mertesacker, who would you rather have in the team? Djourou or Vertonghen? Miquel or Vertonghen? Frimpong or Vertonghen? And in midfield would you rather Ramsey or Sigurdson? Diaby or Sigurdson? Hell even Arshavin or Sigurdson? Those 3 midfielders played 74 games between them and the defenders 54 games between them. So even if these guys are just 'good players' or 'squad players' they would get a hell of a lot of time at Arsenal and would be a hell of an improvement on our current squad players. That is how they can take us to the next level, because after our first XI we are absolutely garbage!
What John said
The only place where Arsenal have 50 million to spend is on FM12.
Anyway, we still have plenty of time, another 6 weeks before the season starts. Yes it's good to get business done early but if we rush we start making wrong decisions. It looks like M'Vila might be next on Arsene's wishlist and I certainly wouldn't mind him, but personally I don't see him as being better than Song and he's certainly not worth a record fee for us. Coquelin is a great young prospect and we should use him more, we only need M'Vila if Song leaves.
Samir I also want us to sign Belhanda. His signature would really signal some intent from us.
Some people need to remember you can only register 25 people in the squad......
Younes Belhanda flopped at the african nations still doubts over him whether he can step it up at a higher level
I think clubs will see how well he does in the champions league next year before making a judgement
Youssef Mksani is one to watch out for
Of course I'd have Vertonghen over Djourou/Miquel. But to spend 13 million on a 4th choice CB is irresponsible. Also we won't have another defensive injury crisis like last year either.
Would I have Sigurdsson over Ramsey? By no means an obvious question. In any case, we probably won't have the required squad space. I'd prefer us to sign Dempsey, a tough and experienced goalscoring midfielder who can play wide as well, Sigurdsson for me isn't mobile enough. He's no quicker or more agile than Ramsey.
What's the point of getting upset every time a rival club signs a player (or in this case, might sign)? We can't sign everyone that our rivals are sniffing around; we're not Man City!
Let us do our business and let them do theirs. If a player is good enough for Spurs or Liverpool, that doesn't necessarily mean they're good enough for Arsenal!

Look North Bank Lower has confirmed Arsenal have scouted Sigurdsson and deemed him not plausible
We shouldnt be signing players on the basis of a few good months
The real star player in the Swansea team is Joe Allen he the one that makes them tick in midfield
We don't need any CBs. An awesome DM is all we're lacking (unless Wilshere really isn't going to be fit, then we might need a CM)
The whole Morrocan team flopped at the ACON. Even the Ivory Coast flopped to an extent.
Sigurdson isn't the type of player we need, Vertonghen probably wants to be first choice instead of a squad player at a top club.
Joe Allen is Swansea's best player, I agree. Meanwhile Gylfi is no better than what we have, he'll score a few more goals, but he doesn't have real creativity and vision or a burst of pace. We shouldn't be signing players based on the fact that they might do well at our rivals, like TheSkins said.
"Younes Belhanda flopped at the african nations still doubts over him whether he can step it up at a higher level"
Drogba flopped at the ACoN. Rooney flopped at the Euros. The whole Dutch team flopped, too. It doesn't mean they are not good enough. You said Willems is a class player and he was the worst player at the Euros from any nation.
We had Sig on trial when he was a teenager we didn't think he was good enough, but players change.
We also had Yaya on trial
Gylfi Sigurdson scores goals from midfield, great technique, great set pieces, I know he isn't perfect but €10M for a player with those attributes is something we should be considering because we don't have any midfielders like that. People (myself included) said we didn't need Arteta. If we sign Dempsey though that is fair enough, I've always said we should go for one of Dempsey, Sigurdson or Sessegnon this Summer. Different types of players to what we already have.
