Well tennis is not dead in the UK, I have sent an email to the secretary of my tennis club last night, I'm joining as soon as they'll have me

I'm afraid to say we declined you as the better looking male players felt uncomfortable.

Which club are you joining?

I'll let you know once I've joined, don't want you to thwart my plan
They actually offered me a place last year, but I was too self-conscious about their assessment part so didn't go.

Assessments...must be a popular club.

No such entry barriers at my clubs, only problem is at Grosvenor we only play Tues/Thur evenings and Saturdays and those times have been employable last few weeks...but when weather is good, nothing better than grass court tennis.

although my club is called "LAWN" the only green thing is the grass AROUND the courts

Grosvenor is all lawn....4 courts and 3 nets, tiny, friendly club.

Can be a very snobby/cliquey sport and I hate that as it puts people off wanting to play.

Grosvenor welcomes guests and we regularly have visitors from abroad who've always wanted to play on grass.

On a Saturday evening we get the deck chairs out and have tea and tea cakes after tennis....lovely.

I'm also a member now at Croxley as I need somewhere where my kids can play and I don't want to put them through the system at David Lloyd, luckily it's another nice club that works really strongly with local community.

I also try and visit other clubs to see how they do things, find a lot of them very welcoming, maybe you have to look a little further afield for the right club.

"maybe you have to look a little further afield for the right club."
not at the moment, this one is walking distance and is quite nice.
I am sure there will be at least one normal person among them all, esp when I tell them that NOLE is the best

Last time I went there, they had the board covered with Murray/Fed/Nadal photos, what ignorant crowd...

Well, if you made your choice, you have to accept the bad points as well then.

At least I'll give it a try and if that fails THEN you can declare the death of tennis in GB!

I have no idea what the clubs are like where you are, what your priorities are or what research you've already done, always worth looking at a few clubs and trying out a couple of their sessions to see what fits best with you.
