I remember McEnroe saying once that if he were playing rafa he would kick his water bottles over or something

I completely respect rafas achievements and his tennis. But don't like his time taking and little foibles etc.

Ultimately though it is up to Rafael opponents to overcome rafa, rosol has refreshingly shown that he's not as invincible as his aura can make him seem.

What a stupid and pointless article!

Pizza

It's not stupid. Rafa might be a good player but unfair on court. Remember the shove to Rosol.

Whether they kick water bottles or stay on their chair, the fact of the matter is 99% of players will lose to him.

He is still a massive force in the game. Until some young players start making waves, he will continue to be successful. He is starting to depend on the clay more than he used to, but with other court slowing down every year, I don't think that will make as much difference as it should.

I'm not a fan of Nadal's play or the amount of time it takes for him to serve, but I do feel he plays the big points so well.

Its all part of his "intimidation"
I really wonder sometimes how much Nadal would actually win if you forced him to serve within the time limit, the tournament didn't allow his uncle to watch the match from the stands but rather from the locker room and nipped his other intimidation tactics in the bud
When the umpire calls time, deduct a point if he takes a lot longer then he is supposed to
Its quite clear that he really benefits from the tactics he uses, the players already fear him before they even hit a ball, otherwise he wouldn't use them
He even went as far as bumping into Rosol to impose his hostility and intimidation, but luckily Rosol didn't fall for it and he won

"Its quite clear that he really benefits from the tactics he uses, the players already fear him before they even hit a ball, otherwise he wouldn't use them"

Absolutely!
He's one of the nastiest players when it comes to intimidation.
I once saw a clip of him, toni and a few other players hanging out in the locker room or somewhere non-court, and even there you can see the air of this weird pathological subordination.
Even Nole succumbs to it by giving him this lavish praises during trophy presentations, the guy just carries on like the biggest diva.

He is the Serena of men's tennis. Lukas has shown that if you get under his skin, you can get result.

Like I said his bad times are here.

nitb, tenez or wow

Serena? Thats a low blow :P
Serena is a sore loser, and there have been a few appalling outbursts from her but she's no where near as bad as Nadal
Serena abides by the rules of the game, she never gets coached by Richard from the stands, she doesnt fake injuries and abuse medical time outs, she doesnt resort to any of the tactics Nadal does to give himself an unfair advantage
Serena may love drama, but she's not the drama queen Nadal is

veejay, I was talking about the initimidation but yes you are right abaout fake mtos and other annoying ocds.

Serena intimidates her opponents with her presence and aggressive game,Nadal has to use water bottles and makes his opponents wait,if that doesnt work,an argument with the umpire is a good way of showing who's the boss on court... lmao...

Well done Vee-jay about your thoughts about anti-tennis Nadal.I think that the things that you are stating are so obvious that Nadal should be banned from tennis and fined 50 million pounds and that money should be used to make all players who emulate Nadal extinct from tennis.

If what Nadal does is wrong and so obvious why don't other players and tennis officials take a stand against him.

P.S Taking medical time-outs is well within the rules and if he is faking an injury the trainer treating him would have reported that to tennis officials and ATP.
As for him being coached by Tony from the stands I think thats non-sense!How does Tony coach Nadal from stands when all matches are live on television?
If match umpires don't implement 20 second rule between points thats not Nadal's fault and Djokovic takes same amount of time as Nadal between points and he can be annoying by bouncing ball 30 times before serving though nowadays he does bounce the ball 20 times instead of his previous average of 30 bounces before each serve.

Always nice to meet a fan...was actually going to indulge you and stoop down your level of intelligence,or should I say lack there of,but how can anyone argue with the genius who came up with such a original username?

The mere fact that you missed the whole point why this article was started and then you go on to say "If what Nadal does is wrong and so obvious why don't other players and tennis officials take a stand against him" is testament to that!
Don't bother responding,if you havent figured it out by now you probably never will...

Yeah this article is full of genius thoughts and I have never met such a Nadal hater as you and believe me I have read posts of Tenez and many others despising Nadal.

Whats so great about this article?Jim Courior has come with a plan to unsettle Nadal by telling US Davis Cup players that they should wait for Nadal to get up from his chair?Really?Really?

As for my username well if that makes you think that I am stupid then I think that says all about your level of intelligence---never judge a book by its cover and many people have more odd usernames than me on ja606!

Pizza, nadull is not playing Davis cup anyway. I think this was meant to be a banter from jim.

But Nadal's antics are really annoying. Tell me who wipes their legs for sweat????

I will definitely take that as a compliment,if making a stand for ethics and integrity labels me a hater so be it,I will proudly wear that label
Where you fail miserably is your inability to grasp that no true fan of the game would ever support a player who cheats, breaks the rules and seeks an unfair advantage every possible chance he gets, because no athlete is above the game for a true fan.If you were truly a fan of the game, not just a fan of a particular player you would be just as disgusted as many others are when they see such disgraceful sportsmanship, the fact that you're not speaks volumes
The best part has to be how you attack me for voicing it,Im not the one who did anything wrong,I didn't break the rules, cheat, lie or fake injuries but yet the blame clearly lies with me for highlighting it rather then the offender. You also cant blame me for my opinion of Nadal,he has made it impossible for me to support him,you want to change my opinion-go complain to El Toro

If you want to defend such behaviour by all means go ahead but don't expect the rest to follow suit, and don't moan if anyone judges a book by its cover, you're defending tactics which are fundamentally wrong in the spirit of sport,so theres not much left to conclude

If what Nadal does is so innocent why is Jim Courier talking about it and trying to do something about it?
He is hardly the first person to complain about Nadals unacceptable behaviour,at least give him credit for trying to do something about it
If you disagree because you say so,I will let you have this one because regardless of that main the point you're missing is that Nadal is not special,he isn't entitled to special exclusive privileges neither is he above the game, the rules of the game applies to everyone including him, case closed
Theres no room for divas in tennis,if you want to fly the flag and be a diva fanboy switch over to RuPauls drag race
