Has Nadal won his last slam?

I don't think it's his last slam, he's too good a player not to come back and win one. However, seeing how Hargreaves had a similar injury and his career is all but over might mean it is.

Sorry to turn it into a Fed thread. I believe Nadal's injury further reinforces my belief that Federer is the greatest player of all time. Nadal and Djokovic play a style of tennis where they put their bodies on the line and in doing so sacrifice their longevity and their long-term mobility when they finally give up the racket.

I don't know if anyone noticed but Djokovic is playing a more languid game like Federers. It was very apparent in Wimbledon and the French Open. He is beginning to release that playing that sort of tennis is career ending in the long-run. I hope for Nadal's sake that it isn't the case for him.

Yes, I agree with you. I dont think that ageing rafa will be able to make lot of impact on the tour. Fed struggled to win slams since he passed 27 and that's Fed who never exerted.

Good question.
Back in 2010, when he was in his full sweep, tennis world was dreading him overtaking Fed.
I had the boldness to ask THEN, how was going to retire first Federer or Nadal....and I got some odd "looks" just like when I declared my nickname 5 years ago

All things being equal it may well be his last slam.
I do expect Nole to bag RG next year. He will be in his absolute prime.

He is still favourite for RG but its clear that the rest of the pack are catching up.I believe if they came back to finish the final on the Sunday,Novak could have beaten Nadal

I expect the Nadal camp to make a run for it at the U.S Open this year, banking their hopes on the fact that everyone will be tired from the Olympics while Nadal comes in fresh as a daisy with his knees having had several treatments from his magical sports doctor
Whether that results in another grand slam title remains to be seen

Nadal ain't going to USO. This season going more or less similar to 2009. The problem is not knee but something else only.

He might win FO again. I declared him to not to win anymore slams when he was on 6. He has doubled (nearly) since then.

Massive fan of tennis, and hope that Rafa wins many more. He ain't my favourite player, but the idiots who post on ja606 deserve to watch him win plenty more.

how do you know he's not going to USO?

I wonder when it will be Djokovics turn for people to say "he wont win any more slams?"

Everyone said it about Federer, and they were wrong!

Now, stupidly, they say it about Rafa! and again, they will be wrong!

Rafa lost at Wimbledon and has decided to give the Olympic games a miss and because of that he will never win another Grand Slam?

Thanks for showing me you know nothing about top level mens tennis

I think he has another couple of FO in him and possible another Australian...

With him, so much depends on his fitness and confidence, neither of which wil be high for the rest of this year which probably rules the USO out. (don't think the Olympics will be an issue best of 3 sets bar the final - its more akin to a Masters tourney - the players will be fine for FM)

I think he may struggle from now on at Wimby and the he has always found the USO the hardest though he has done well to be in the last 2 finals.

Djokovic needs to find his form though as he is really the only one to challenge Nadal at RG.

If he wins another slam it will be RG.

Nadal will win at least 2 more French Opens and he is also in with a shout of winning another Australian Open so that makes him a good contender to at least end up with 14 Grand Slams in my opinion!

______________

Can only see Nadal winning slams at RG. Off clay looks almost impossible now. Too much competition.
