Loan deals can be clever, get a player for a season, have a look, if he's any good buy him at the next window, if he's mince, send him back.
Took the words out of my mouth loui, 8 mill in the bank and we spend fack all of it
Yeah the guy above is right Loui. Especially with clubs knowing what we got for Rhodes.
Plus who knows what we were expected to pay for Beckford along with wages? Would you have been happy to see him coin £30,000 a week from us? I know I wouldn't.
I'm happy with what we got for Rhodes, and despite feeling a bit despondent as the deadline drew closer, having slept on it, I'm now quite glad we didn't allow ourselves to be ripped off. There is no point wasting money by panicking. We can now look at things a bit clearer and identify our targets without the risk of being rash.
As long as we play to our potential we can establish ourselves at this level, and then that money can go towards the next goal of moving towards challenging ourselves to get to the next level, which is the potential goldmine of the Premier League.
Do you know how much leicester were asking for Beckford ?
Do you know Dundee YTD want nearly £4m for their 2 lads ?
..and Celtic wanted mega bucks too...
There's a phrase you should remember..' a fool and his money are soon parted'. Deano is no fool.
He'll spend the money when prices get realistic...and quite right in my opinion.
If it was any old chairman in charge in the same position with 8mil after selling thire top striker and not spending any of it on a replacement, the most of you lot would be going fackin mental now, but because its the mighty dean the man can do no fackin wrong, it's ball aks.
Get Church next week, see where we are in Jan, then buy them Dundee United lads.
You forget we already brought in EIGHT effing players Loui...what you like, the money's burning a hole in your pocket mate........chillax !!
Fack that novak, identify our targets,!!! you say? You telling me that they didn't plan for Rhodes going, they new he was off and how much for, they should have had a replacement never mind all that balls, we never seem to push the boat out that little bit more its always been the same, i have never felt blown away with a town signing in my life, i thought with 8m this would be the time, but same old town.
We will have had an idea of who we wanted Loui, but clubs just play hardball when they know you have money to spend.
It's nothing to do with loyalty to Hoyle. It just makes better business sense to bide our time. We need to be frugal with the money, not pisss it up the wall on prima donna's
I spent 196 pounds on town other day and the not even playing ╯▂╰. Its more than Hoyle spent last night as well.
Just keep the faith Loui and be thankful our club is being run the right way
Why didn't we buy him? We obviously wanted him so why didn't we spend a little bit of the 8m and buy him?
My guess? It would have been far more than a 'small amount' of the £8M, especially with wages taken into account.
I wouldn't get beckford anyway, I think church would be a better option
Why dosent it feel like a match day today.
Why didn't town buy a striker yesterday, never mind beckford why didn't we buy somone els with the 8m
Beckford is on £30k a week by all accounts, £20k a week more than Jordan was on, so if we signed him on a 3 year deal for a fee of around £2m there would be much more than that coming out of the kitty. We rightly have a wage budget and he wouldn't have fit into it, hence we weren't willing to budge when Leicester tried fleecing us at the last minute. The loan window opens on Thursday and the £8m is going nowhere, don't panic.
So cas why didn't we Look at other strikers that are in our budget?
Surely they must have known what he was getting at Leicester.
Before this debarcle with Rhodes., we were only after loaning Church anyway.
Loui,
My guess is we offered to Pay 50-60% of his wages. Obviously Leicester wanted more but it would still have cut more than 15,000 a week off their wage bill. He's their player so it's in their hands, much like it was us with Rhodes. If we paid, say 1.5m for him and 30k a week for example, on a 3 year contract this would have cost us in excess of £6,000,000. He isn't worth that.
No point dwelling on it anymore mate
We looked at plenty, as was shown with bids for the 2 Dundee lads and Stokes, we thought we were being fleeced so we stuck with the Beckford loan which was 100% agreed. Town signed the contract, Beckford signed the contract, Leicester pulled the plug at 10:56pm. Not much we could do about that, we looked around, we found the best option, we got screwed at the last minute.
Whatever will be will be,,, Loui - What did you spend nigh on £200 on ??
His weekend in Blackpool for a game that subsequently got moved to a Monday.
He can't get a refund.
