Aiming for prime Son? That’s a little unrealistic
@Spurtle
Yes Odobert is nowhere near prime Son either (agree with Edin that that is extremely unrealistic as he was essentially world class). However what I meant is Odobert should be the young/back up player to continue learning and developing this year, hence why we didn’t need Tel and in fact why I think current Son would still have had a big part to play.
We don’t need to complain if we don’t get prime Son, but a top 6 standard LW should be what we are after. That is not unreasonable

I have been a bit disappointed in Frank not trying different formations in the friendly matches.
Against Munich I would have liked to have seen Danso or Vuskovic in as three centre backs with the wing backs as Porro and Spence and then someone up front alongside Richy.
I thought Frank was the guy that had different plans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's early days, but I wouldn't get overly excited with Frank. His brief has been to keep Brentford in the Prem. This job at Spurs is a completely different gig. Only time will tell if he is up to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That tells its own story really. Get in the guy that miraculously kept Brentford up on a shoestring because we've got the same requirements.
I like Frank and I hope he does well but the fact he's worked with far less money is the appeal to Levy.
It's all just so bleak. We've shown far more ambition with previous managers in their first summer, even without CL football money.
In terms of incomings, I still think we need...
CB
LB
AM
LW
ST
Those for me are the key areas. That's 5 new players on top of what we already have. Getting in a Madders replacement is the very least we should be doing.
The only silver lining to this misery is watching those that like to call others bed wetters, truly shiiiiit themselves when they realise how short we are. I'll be here, reminding you we were right. You can be sure of that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fabrizio Romano on will Tottenham sign a replacement for James Maddison...
"Yes, it's likely. They are calling around to explore the market."
I personally don't think we need a CB or LB
But agree with the other 3 positions
Another CB/LB are cover options realistically. As much as we want a new striker, it is also a position where we do have players for it, regardless of quality.
CAM, LW are absolutely the priority first.
CAM > LW > ST > CB > LB would be my priority of that, but I’d have a proper creative 8 even before CB (not that we will get one due to Sarr/Bergvall/Bentancur

Yeah I only listen them all because that's what Ali Gold mooted as to what Frank is looking for.
For me it's attacking midfielder urgent priority, then it's a toss up between left winger or striker. Now that Son has gone, that ability to use a wide forward as a striker has gone. Tel can't do it.
The other roles can wait. I really don't get the centre half thing. We already have Romero, VDV, Danso, Dragusin (whenever he's back), Vuskovic and that Takai fella. How many more do we need? It's such a waste of money.
Left back I'd say is more of a priority because Spence is fast become a utility man. Say he's covering for Porro, who might be rested for an upcoming CL game, that means Davies has to come in, which is feckin mad. The very fact he's even getting a game at his age for a club of our size is a joke. He was never good enough, even in his prime.
Players earning £100k+ per week:
City - 18
United - 17
Arsenal - 16
Chelsea - 15
Liverpool - 13
Villa - 13
Newcastle - 7
Spurs - 5
If you think this is right given the revenue we bring in, you're losing the plot. THIS is the reason why we're where we are. We can't attract the best players. It's that simple. It was at 3 before Kudus and Paulinha came in.
To me that is feckin shocking. And yes, sure, wages don't always mean you're getting better players, there are exceptions, but by and large, on average they definitely mean that.
ENIC out. Enough is enough.
Despite Spurs generating over £520m in annual revenue, more than Palace, Everton and Villa combined, the wage to revenue ratio has plunged to 40-42%, which is the lowest in the Prem's top 10 clubs.
Not sure if I care about a ‘over 100k’ metric

tbf, revenue is such a poor indicator of success
Our revenue could be turnover could be 520m, but our costs could be 519m.
I know that's not going to be the case here but it's worth judging everything on Profit / disposable cash
I CBA looking up our net profits though but I can imagine the our costs given all the stadium, training ground and property development work will be very high
FWIW I think Wissa will end up with either us or Newcaslte (more likely Newcastle as they'll be Isaakless soon potentially
If I was in charge then I’d go out buy wissa & eze for circa £100m and be done with the window.
Gives us the attacking options we need while being proven in the league.
Age profile wise it’ll give the younger players time to develop.
It’ll never happen as there’s is little to no return on the players when we are finished with them
We are what an injury to kudus and absolutely facked

Like, all jokes and hierarchy bashing aside, why do we think they don't go for obvious transfers like that?
Surely it's not down to lack of resale or lack of funds
I just can't think why it's so difficult to pick out 2 players and just go out and get them
Other clubs seem to identify. Approach and sign, all within a week
We're always seem to be exploring the possibility of finding out the details of a potential loan to buy transfer, where the player is at a loaned club from a parent club, who has a buy back clause with them, all whilst not being interest in signing for us in the first place

You should do. It's one of the clearest indicators of league finish. What you pay in wages reflects roughly where you finish.
But that isn’t what you provided. You just pulled some round number that sounds nice and implied it was noteworthy.
If we had 30 guys on £99k our wage bill would be high but nothing hitting the arbitrary 100k metric. We don’t pay enough in salaries but let’s discuss it properly.

Semantics. The bottom line is that the 40-42% wage to turnover tells the full story. The £100k+ just shows an example of where we’re not signing any elite players.
How has two of our worst players in Jamie O'Hara & Ramon Vega become like official spokesmen about Tottenham.

It’s not semantics, if you had an art gallery with 100 $900k worth paintings. The value of the collection is more than 20 $1.1m paintings- even if you do a $1m+ threshold. Using a made up specific metric to make a point that isn’t 1 for 1 is pointless.
