We have the same philosophy as Barcelona, we play technically, we want to play in attack. We always think more offensively than defensively and this is similar. I'm used to playing like this as a player and as a coach I want to play the same.

Bit gutted about that. I just spotted it trending on twitter. He would have been handy for England in the WC without a doubt.

As an England fan i'm happy this means Lallana and Sterling will be on the plane.. Andros has been poor for months.

I appreciate what your saying as Sterling in particularly is right on form at the moment. Townsend would have been handy in games where defences were overcrowded and deep and he could strike from 18 to 25 yards out.

I think Sterling and Lallana were on the plane anyway. That being said Townsend was bound to be a player Hodgson would have picked, even though his form has been questionable.

Pav - I think Milner has done alright this season as a squad player. I think his place on the plane is a cert with Townsend now unavailable.
