Great honesty from Andy in the interview, this will really really help banish the doubts he talks about, next Slam is hard court too, I'd be betting on Andy to at least make the final there.

Chuffed to rocks for Andy Murray.

What an outstanding effort from a guy who is playing totally and utterly on his own with regards to carrying our Nations flag in the mens game.

This was a fantastic victory and won't be his last Grand slam title either.

Ivan Lendl has turned him into a beast on a tennis court and he plays with a grace and style and fortitude that I can only love to watch. He has so many ways of mixing up a whole repetoire of shots.

The man has been playing the best tennis in the world at this time, and just like he did at Wimbledon, where he blew the best away and grabbed that GOLD medal ( personally, my biggest pleasure in tennis and one I will savour for the rest of my life ) he felt the pressure of an entire nation and delivered under that enormous pressure.
The man is a hero.

He gets my vote for SPOTY, relegating Wiggins to second place.

This makes the sportspersonality of the year award quite interesting. Andy surely will be a contender.

Well,Jonty I told you before the tournament it self that this is Andy's time.

Were you brave enough to put money on it TMF?

There will still be people who will find reason to criticise, make excuses etc etc

I actually feel sorry for those folk who are driven more by a desire to hate than a desire to applaud.

Well done Andy Murray, not many people can claim to have won an Olympic Gold Medal and a Slam in the same year.

No, I did not as I don't bet a lot. It was not a difficult prediction as there were only 3 contenders and nothing to lose if Murray would have lost. But he was playing well and that gave me confidence.

Also, a lot of people have not realised that team murray had a clear startegy for conserving the best for the slam. Murray did not waste too much energy at Cincy and toronto, like he had done in the past.

Well done team Murray!

Was a tough Slam to call, but so happy Murray won, I think he was genuinely overcome with all the emotion of having had to deal with the pressure for years.

Great messages coming in from the pros, will post a thread in a minute.
