Bootom line for me leaving KP out of the side is like leaving Messi out of Barcalona. Yes KP has done wrong but come on, thier are a few in the dressing room that have had a dig at thier own, and what KP does it then he is banned.
England for me are a avrage batting side without KP FACT, SA took out the England batsman far to easy, if it wasn't for KP innings before he got banned then England would have lost the number 1 spot then.
I still think with KP being dropt for the final test at Lords that gave a massive advantage to SA as they seen KP as the danger man. He is the only batsman I have seen for a long time that attacks the bowlers from the start, Prior does but not the same as KP.
Now fans thinking this is a good thing then we will see but again India will be rubbing thier hands he has been dropt as they like every other team seen him as the main threat, he is the flintoff of Bowling
Anyway no matter what I say there is to many that can't stand him which is a shame as he has brought so much sucsses to England
Look we all have our own opinions on the matter, I just feel fundamentally England had their best chance in years to win a Test series in India with him in the side. Even though this is an average Indian team by previous standards I now believe it's a serious long shot that we'll come away with anything.
Frankly, this whole situation has been handled embarrassingly by all concerned from the suits to the team management and the players themselves. KP and all. Although the less said about the media witch-hunt (looking at you especially Derek Pringle) the better.
What are the odds in the next couple of weeks that some of the content of the private discussions held between both parties ends up being 'leaked' into the press circles (again)? Thus hammering another nail into Pietersen's coffin. Trust should be a two way thing.
For the 'Textgate' he deserves to be clamped down on no arguments but this is enough. Issues to be resolved still? There's been weeks to sit down and thrash things out but it's meandered along to the detriment of our teams chances. Like I say handled badly.
Regarding the batting, you say we have plenty I disagree. I'm happy Root's been picked but he's a rookie at this level as is Bairstow so. I have great faith in both of them but in India it wont be easy for them. Except Prior the rest of the batting has been out of nick since last summer. The thought of Morgan potentially at 4 or 5 scares me, he isn't Test class nor is Patel. Feel slightly aggrieved for Taylor.
Oh dear. Here's hoping but that is deflating news.
For me too soon for Root. But, he is a great prospect. Strange he may make his debut aged 21 in India - Exactly the same age and location as Cook.
Root has the temperament, modern shot selection, fielding, occasional spin and most importantly as Dr Bantam the apparent Leeds fan knows... He is from the White Rose.
Let's tour India without our best player of spin and our finest batsman since Thorpe. Another good idea would be to try out some unproven youngsters in the hardest country for non sub-continentals to tour. Looking forward to a good series.
also one thing I have noticed, lets not write off England, or put India the favouraties just like that.
Guys this Indian team is our weakest team. Our batting is not so strong due to various reosons, our pace attack hasnt had success for over a year, and our spin is untested against quality side.
Making India the favourites is just being plain stupid. Let the series begin and we would know where each team lies,
Time to make a fresh start with new blood. It's got to happen sooner or later anyway, regardless of whether KP is playing or not. He won't be around for ever, so the same decisions are going to have to be made to find replacements. So I'd rather see it happen now even if it means England losing a few games here and there in order to give the new players the experience they need for the good of English cricket in the mid to long term.
some interesting points here - and though i tend to agree that the whole thing has been handed rather badly, I'm still of the opinion that - great batsman though he is - leaving KP out may prove to be a wise decision. It MAY not be all KP's fault, but the fact remains that traditionally its always problematic when there is a controversial figure in the dressing room. I'm a Yorkie and love Boyc's to bits but the fact is England always had a problem picking him, as they did Tresco who had his own problems. I tend to think it disrupts the pattern when someone is there who makes things difficult for whatever reason. So my feeling is we may do well in India and unearth some real talent - take it from me, Root will surprise many
As an Australia fan I'd be properly ecstatic if KP doesn't line up against us in the next Ashes.
I rest my case I have spokent to a few Australian fans and they all think the same they will be over the moon if KP is left out.
The fact KP still want s to play for England even though being left out the England side shows that he is willing to put things right, some may have just walked away and given two finger up to England.
KP has to be back for the ashes
"The fact KP still want s to play for England even though being left out the England side shows that he is willing to put things right..."
Yes I'm sure that he is contrite now, after whats happened! Probably just realized that he may not play for England again and his agent has given him the warning that if he carries on he won't be making as much money in the future
Don't forget KP will be making quite a nice little stash as an England player!!
Banging on about how GOOD KP is quite honestly is missing the point - would you rather see a succesful Team or a succesful KP? Personally I'd rather the former
How many times have we been waiting for KP to do something only for him to play a dumb shot and get out.
And then he has a few failures and then hits 150 and all is well with the world.
The reason the Aussies want him back as they know it is a guaranteed wicket 8-9 times out of 10.
Short term pain, long term gain. Let's hope the youths prosper.
