Southend 1-1 Brewers
Scorer Rooney (who else!)
It is doubtful whether Zola, Maghoma and Paterson will make the trip so I am making a prediction based on that. This is the biggest test of the season in many ways. Major players out of action, Southend will hit us with an aerial bombardment which we will struggle to withstand. There were worrying signs tactically of a return to last season in the second half on Saturday ie thinking we're good enough to sit deep on a one goal lead and subbing a striker for a defender with 25 mins left...bizarre.
Prediction: Southend 3 Brewers 0.
I'll be optimistic and predict a 2-2 draw.
I hope you are right Marco !
I will be one day, so why not tommorow
Fatigue, missing players and a long journey are all genuine causes for concern.
But then Paterson has a point to prove so just might snatch something against his former employers.
Defenders to dig in after conceding six in the last 127 minutes.
Southend 0 Brewers 1
If what Frank Ashton says is correct and Calv, Pato and Mags are all out then we will end up playing five across midfield and Billy on his own up front =
Southend 3 - Brewers 0
However, sounds like Calv is definitely out but if we have a front three of Mags, Billy and Pato then I believe we can still get something out the game =
Southend 1 - Brewers 2
Steve1210 makes a good point, it sounds like Paterson didn't have a good time at Southend and has a point to prove - fingers crossed for the lad!
Are you going for 2-1 to the Brewers as your prediction Derby Yellow?
Ha, yes Otep, wasn't hedging my bets really!!
Southend 1 - 2 Brewers
I'm going for a 1-1 draw, would have prefered Stanton in place of Kiernan but the deed is done now.
Think we're going to be a tired team tonight, however, still think we might get something from the game:
Southend 1 - Brewers 1
I also think that tiredness will hit home tonight (although I hope that I am wrong). Coupled with the long trip, it will be a game too far. Southend to win 2.0 unfortunately.
If Zola is not able to play that is a blow , but he will be back. Its time for Billy to hit some form.Garry must play Billy and Pato up front with Mags up for support. Attack is the best way to take away the heat from our deffence. We can win this game if we stick together and keep shape.
Southend 2 Burton Albion 3.
COME ON YOU BREWERS.
Well it's taken me all of ten games and them all of the ninety minutes but thanks, Jacques, I finally got one RIGHT!
One - nil.....to the Albion!!!
Onwards and upwards.
Well done you Brewers.
I was delighted to get the scoreline wrong, well done Steve, timing of the goal was perfect with little time for them to stage a comeback!
Absolutely delighted, I particularly dislilke Southend, their stadium and their supporters - big club in Essex and all that. To go there AGAIN and get a result absolutely fantastic!
Well done Brewers . A point away from home would have been good but all three points is a great result.
We are going to get dizzy spending to much time near the top of the league table.
Come on you Brewers.
