Would love to see Federer do it one last time and tie Sampras
The points totals don't look right at all, here are the current ones:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/Rankings/Singles.aspx
1 Federer, Roger (SUI) 11,805
2 Djokovic, Novak (SRB) 10,970
3 Murray, Andy (GBR) 8,090
4 Nadal, Rafael (ESP) 7,085
5 Ferrer, David (ESP) 5,960
Sorry, I was looking at the 'Race for London' points, well spotted. Hopefully this is correct now.
Current Points Def. Remaining
Federer 11805 3000 8805
Djokovic 10970 560 10410
A.Murray 8090 1180 6910
R. Nadal 7085 290 6795
D.Ferrer 5960 1360 4600
With there being 1605 points between Djokovic & Federer and 1895 points between Federer & Murray, could there be any changes amongst the top three?
Looking at the remaining tournaments there are still two Masters 1000 events to win and The World Tour Finals where there is 1500 points to the winner so there are a lot of points left.
No one will be Marat Safin
Djokovic has a 60% chance of year end no 1, Federer 39%, Murray 1%. Murray will almost certainly finish as no 3.
Djokovic is ahead however Federer could score more on the faster surfaces at the year end so it could be close. He needs to avoid a Djokovic win at this Shanghai tournament though.
Djoko is certainly playing very well at teh moment and I think he might extend his lead.
Murray will probably help decide who ends up number one between Djoko and Federer.
Both Federer and Djoko can lose to Murray and there is a big difference in points between reaching the final and not reaching it....and more so between not reching teh final and winning it.
SO far in Shangai, Federer has Murray in the semi and that can certainly work against the current world number 1.
In Shanghai, i fully expect Fed to beat Murray. Fed has had enough rest and he seems to always have a very good end of the year.
Djoko's win against Dimitrov was sublime though.
That's optimistic RC. I just don;t think Fed can beat Murray and Djoko one after the other without a day rest.
In faat I was surprised he chose to play on Wed. He now has to play 5 days in a row when he coudl have played 5 in 6 or 7 days.
