Are you really a time traveler?
The biggest difficulty for me watching United is when I see the team sheet, and know exactly how we are going to play.
For both the Liverpool and Spurs game, I had to tell the Mrs to take the kids out because my language might be a bit colourful.
I got up at 6am in the US to watch United - City in 09/10 when Scholes scored that header.
I got a ticket off a mate for arsenal vs Swansea last year. Went to the ground, tried to put ticket in but something went wrong. Went to the box office who told me my mate had only given me the printed receipt by mistake
Dejected, I scurried back to the pub to watch the game. 5 minutes after getting to pub a fight broke out
VC, do you not find it worrying just about everyone on the site knew what would happen but fergie didn't?
I spent a day walking around Boston trying to find a place to watch United vs Schalke first leg in 2010/2011. Luckily, Little Italy has some great authentic places to watch the game and I got into a good conversation with an avid Juve fan who had emigrated to the US and raised his children and grandchildren in Boston.

I have found it worrying for the last three years.
I did an article on 'the old guard' about two and a half years ago, under my old name of Rooneysrage on the BBC 606.

Hard to believe as he seemed a quite decent and civil poster.

As soon as Giggs is in the starting line up my interest grows in the hope ill be watching Utd get another dicking
Last day of the same season I was in Rotorua in NZ. We got there on the Saturday at 10pm and the whole city seemed to have shut down so I was panicking about missing the Wigan game on the Sunday which whold have started at 2am Monday morn. Using my initiative, I found out the match was on 'Sky Sport 2' Our hostel only had Sky Sport 1, so I spent 2 hours looking for another hostel which had the channel and paid another $80 (mates split it with me) and luckily Ronaldo and Giggs ensured it was worth it
and was thinking about my time travelling

You dreaming of being Marty McFly again?
I never really had a problem finding games in Australia to be honest, they were everywhere in Carines, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne especially.
I was fortunate enough to h. ave Fox in apartment whilst working in Port Douglas during the crunch period of the 2008/2009 season. I used to start work at 04:00 but as I opened up I'd just go to work at half time and watch it in the bar whilst setting up.
I especially remember opening the bar early for the British and European staff who wanted to watch the Arsenal game when Ronnie and Park ripped them apart.
Good times.

Never hid that one, it is pretty much common knowledge.

Sydney was easy, bars open all night for games. Watched both 2008 semi's in a Liverpool bar and took pleasure in goading them when Riise scored that last minute own goal against Chelsea.
Looking for a game in Brisbane was probably hard as it was my second day in the country so didn't really know whats what.
I remember looking for somewhere to watch the Liverpool game (3-0 Mascherano red) in Hervey Bay. Sunday night so all the bars were shutting at 11 but bumped into a load of Salford reds and we raised $200 between us and other United fans to keep a pub open for the match! He gave us a drink each and then asked for money for them but was duly told where to go!
I watched the utd v shalke semi final in Lima Peru with a gang of Germans...was on at something like 1pm in the day...felt wierd waching Cl when its bright
another time in Cairo i went to port said to watch the last under 20 world cup. England got tanked 4-0 by Ghana. Ghana were awesome. Also seen Brazil tank Oz 3-1. Great buzz smoking the local stuff and having a few Jackie walkers with the Egyptians. Great bunch they are. Stewart pearce did not enjoy himself.
I watched that very game you mention (United vs Lyon 2008) in an Irish bar in downtown Manhattan.
The yankee commentator kept referring to Lyon as the 'The French Lions'
Very annoying.
I watched the United City derby about 4 years ago in the beer garden of the night market in Bangkok. The big screen was behind a stage on which some very scantily clad Thai girls (they were girls, honest !) were dancing. It was hard to concentrate on the game.
Siempre
Which derby? I watched the 50th Munich anniversary match in Phi-Phi at the Reggae Bar if you've been? Found Thailand the easiest to watch footy. Everywhere is near enough open 24/7, didn't miss a game in the month I was there.
Was at some club with a live band in Pattaya, front row, yet I was fixed on a screen across the bar trying to watch the Spurs-Chelsea Carling Cup final! The lead singer kept giving me dodgy looks for ignoring her band (they were shiiiiiiiteeee)
i cant remember which but we were away and we won, I think 1-0 with a Rooney goal, but I was distracted !!
I have been to loads of Reggae bars in Thailand but not been to Phi Phi.
But Thailand is a good place to watch games even with the time difference.
Have you ever tried to find anywhere to watch a game in Central Helmand - just don't bother!
