I wouldn't say we made Brentford look ordinary...or Tranmere. This has been the best of the 3
What a fantastic performance, can we now put to bed all the people who are questioning Dean Saunders ability. An inspirational appointment in my mind.
Still not convinced - sorry NewYankee
Today was great - best of the three wins
I don't think anyone on here is questioning Dean Saunders' ability NY - maybe on the VSC site, but I don't go on that site. Great result! 9 points from the past 3 very difficult games is brilliant! Well done to Deano and the Lads!!
Okay NY - sorry, I was wrong. Didn't see Fuzzy's comment.
Point made Crazy and hopefully taken, I rest my case.
good win lads, good luck for the rest of the season
I listened to Uwe Rosler and Ronnie Moore's post matches. Both were unimpressed by what Rovers showed them. Ronnie Moore actually said we were the worst side he'd seen this season. We shouldn't be attracting comments like that
Yes, we're winning. In terms of this league, the defence is very solid and the strikers / attacking midfielders can all take a chance but this league is no where near the standard of the one above it this season.
I would like to see the performances getting more professional plaudits. More football. More creating chances. I'd like our footballing reputation back again.
It may come yet. I'm delighted with the start this season but I think there's a way to go.
I honestly think Fuzzy that if you bought 5 lottery tickets and one won big, you would try to get your money back off the four which didn't. I just don't see what the team in particular and Saunders have to prove.
I doubt very much that SoD would have put up with the crap from the Board in being given a paltry but fair budget from fans who appear to have no respect for his ability to do the job we want him to do and which he seems to be doing very well.
I don't give a Tinkers Cuss what other managers say about us after we BEAT them, it's better thaan saying how good a tem we are after they have BEATEN us.
It's got to be a work in progress for DS. The current blend of youth and experience is what we need both to survive in the league and have any chance of promotion. It seems to be working so don't break it! DS would be the first to concede it's not a team equipped for the Championship- yet.
Fuzzy, I agree with you about where we are right now. We are still weak in terms of getting the ball down on the deck and playing football and we would certainly be exposed in the Championship. However, credit where credit is due. We have to admit that Deano has developed a great team spirit. We are now difficult to beat and despite having less possession than the opposition, we are winning games. All good managers focus on defence first and when that is sorted, they try to improve the team's possession football. I heard one of Deano's interviews recently where he was basically saying just that - we are strong defensively now but we have to get better at possession football. So yes, Deano still has to show that he can get the team passing the ball through and around the opposition, but we can't really fault him so far this season. He has focussed on the most critical priorities first and the tream is exceeding all expectations in terms of results.
Well what can I say, think Fuzzy would be better off going to watch his beloved Sean O'D. Before last 3 games I'd of snatched your hand off if you'd given me 5 points. To get 9, 6 away from home to teams that will be battling us to get promoted, is brilliant. So some people would rather watch tippy tappy football and end up losing, that a team that not only plays for the shirt, the team and the fans before themselves, well words fail me. Today we were brilliant. Massive shout out for Deano, spot on again with tac-tics. Big shout out to all the Ziggers who traveled today, amazing day.
Precisely nookie, and we never would have got back with the type of player we had, Saunders has completely rebuilt the team with ahrd men and those who know how to win at this level.
If we do win promotion then that will be up to the owners to put up or shut up. He will have done his job and so will the players.
Obviously, I am over the moon and enjoying the season.
I think our comments are probably said by most supporters of every team. We are supporters gents and as such are probably critical of our own team, and why not, I think that makes us real supporters... dont stop
I didn't think folk would like that one.
I'm loving the winning and would take the win over good football but you have to look at performance too. SOD was not correct in saying results don't matter - they do. But where he is right is in that if you play well and don't get a result - there isn't much to change. If you play badly and get a result - should you be happy?
My rating of our last performances (5 - Outstanding (Hull City this season), 1 - Awful) I would say.
Today - 4
Tranmere - 2
Brentford - 1
Hartlepool - 2
Shrewsbury - 2
We've got 13 from 15 points in those games but is it because of inspirational team performances? is there genius in the tactics?
We've won because of a great defence and really sharp strikers. There's also a very good spirit in the team. I'm very happy we've won but the team is nothing special...yet. They may become that. Dean may develop the football more as we go along. It is still a team that has not been together for very long.
Just a point on SOD - I also loved Dave Penney. It took me a year to fully make up my mind that we'd done the right thing there. SOD's football in his first season was more often tedious than sublime.
Deano's first year - like it or not - was awful. We played terribly and got relegated. Yes - we had the Stupidity of the experiment, which undoubtedly hampered him. But he was all in favour of that and in the end, he turned out not to be able to manage it.
This season is massively better. Like SOD did, he is ticking boxes. But he's not yet ticked them all yet for me. He may well do in the future - but he hasn't yet.
Just listening to Keith Curle's interview. It's great to hear opposition managers trying to explain why they were "unacceptably" unable to get through our defence - and also why they were "unacceptably" unable to prevent us from scoring. Wonderful! Long may it continue!
Yankee. Thought you were in Ohio??

LAnza In France.
We may even get a comment on the FL show tonight.
Great result
Final score not given by Jeff Stelling but Hartlepool drew in last min with an own goal scored by Brentford. He made a meal and a dance about that. Bottom of the league too
Ohio - Neil Young - great song.
I am ionly, I tried calling but no reply. I'll try again or give me a call on my mobile.
Why people have to keep referring to Sean in a less than appreciative way for what he did for us, I just don't know.
Deano
1. has produced a very good 1st division side. Jonesie is inspirational, strikers scoring goals and Woodsie in goal improving.
2. has a very small squad,
3.No pre season to speak off.
4.Reduced the wage bill 70%
5.Winning games with only 19% possession and turning stats on its head.
6.Now in the top 6 with a game in hand.
7. no longer are his hands tied.
At the end of the day he is doing a great job and no one is saying any different but there is no fair comparison between the managers.
Now if Deano can turn this team in to a promotion team to the Championship and maintain it for several seasons “The boy done good” and we can easily compare the two managers for what its worth.
What would concern me if we were to get promoted is that our key players are getting on a bit and probably not up to the higher division.
When it comes to the derogatory comments about “Tippy Tappy Football” Forest have just scored 7 goals in two games and Billy got a bonus with a bite of a hot dog for his efforts. You could argue that if he had been given the backing we would be in the Forest position right now and not in the first division.
No one can say that the Championship is not the most difficult league out side the Prem. Any team can beat any team which is not the case in the first division.
All I will say is give Sean the respect he deserves and move on.
Fuzzy deals in facts and stats and will, I have no doub't , without emotion, be proved right, as he usually is.
