The people who write the articles don't write the headlines. That's the editor or sub-editors job.

To be fair, you should also blame the people who make comments based only on the headline without reading the article.

This is true to an extent. But firstly there's the headline that doesn't match BR's words. Then the invitation to comment on it. The comments were only going to go one way, and the journalists at the Beeb know that.

I'm not just talking about this story either. The standards on the football site have gone downhill big time recently.

I do agree with you to be honest. The standard across the BBC news as a whole has become sensationalism that would make the tabloids proud.

They used to be quite reliable, from what I remember.

We pay for the Beeb, through our licence fee. Therefore they have an obligation to report impartially. Not stir up the proverbial and then see the mocking comments come rolling in.

I picked up on this last week when the reporter refused to accept that it was an onside goal wrongly disallowed last week.

It's become so pathetic and that's upset me. I genuinely prefer goal.com these days.
