I can answer your question about Skonto FC of Latvia and the vast majority of other teams you and others have mentioned.

The rankings being quoted are gained from playing in Europe, if you are one of the top teams in a poor national league you qualify and gain points. Simple as that.

Fun though it is to quote the names of these clubs, you and all the other Spurs fans on this thread know that an average Championship team would walk the Irish league for instance. Then get a European place and points.

Are West Ham in the top few hundred European clubs? I don't know, but these UEFA stats certainly do not prove they are not.

All you're saying is it's difficult to compare clubs from different leagues. Comparing clubs from the same FA/league(s) is far easier, hence its perfectly acceptable to use the European rankings to compare.
