Otep, playing on Thursday and Saturday didn't do Alty any harm - they won their conference north fixture 8-0!
Overcame a bit of a jinx to put away the daggers, may have to do the same.
0-4 last year, 1-2 the year before.
Unforgettable 6-1 in our first league season with Greg's first half hat-trick.
2-0 in October 2007 is our only other home win in the last decade.
1-3 in December 2006, despite Lee Fowler putting us ahead.
1-2 in October 2005, despite Andy Todd putting us ahead.
1-3 in March 2005, despite Laurie Wilson putting us ahead
1-4 in March 2004. Darren Stride got the goal but we were already three down.
Interesting stuff (Google 'Soccerbase' when you have a few hours to spare!), but no reason for it to have any bearing on Tuesday's result.
Don't know whether Calvin has come round yet, but as long as Billy has a dose of whatever he had at half time on Saturday, we will do the business.
4-0.
Really do think we are on a high and if Calvin's not back we have goals in Billy and Pato. Confidence is sky high, hopefully GR will keep their feet on the ground.
Some awful memories in those games you have listed steve2010!
Brewers 2 - 0 Aldershot
Got it wrong on saturday ,thankfully and i thought we played out of our skins second half to grind out the result we got . Aldershot will come in search of at least a point and will probably make it hard for us to make the break through . I suspect Zola will not make the squad so its just a question of weather Gary sticks with Kee and Patterson up front as i suspect or Holness in for Stanton . i would bring in Dyer for Palmer who didnt seem fit to me saturday . Anyway as for the result , im going for a 1-1 with the visitors battling for a well earned point .
Aldershot are not having a good season, and I do not see it getting any better for them tomorrow! I know they have been a bogey team of ours in the past but I do think we will nick it
Brewers 2 - 1 Aldershot
3-0
2nd half hat-trick from William Kee
The Brewers are on a high and have played most of the top teams so far this season. Last year we were in the same place last season, but things are very diffrent from last season our GD was very poor . The Brewers were scoring goals but we were letting goals in left right and centre. This season we are not giving up on a game when we go behind. There is plenty of fight being shown so far this season. Great for the fans to see Brewers. I dont think we are the finished article but I do think we can be even better with this team.
Aldershots GD is dire and they are on a all time low. We will score goals in this game.
Brewers 4- 1Aldershot.
Come on you Brewers.
I fear that this may prove to be a match too many in 6 days, but I see us picking up a hard earned point.
Brewers 1 Shots 1
I think we could be in for a big win and so am going for Brewers 6 Aldershot 1.
I hope I am wrong, and its just my usual tendency not to want to go along with the general view, and be provocative.
But I feel it in my water, that we are due a dissappointment. Aldershot are an improving outfit, and are probably better than their recent record suggests, and were within 13 minutesof a win at Wimbledon on saturday . They battled extremely hard and are due some luck, and it will not be long before they are winning again.
Match betting with my online bookie was;
5/6 Burton and 16/5 Aldershot (which I took)
Latest betting reflects some doubts
Evens Burton and now 5/2 Aldershot
Predict; Brewers 0 Shots 2
Hope i'm wrong !
C'mon you Brewers
Brewer Dave
Tired performance all round.
Why pump balls up to strikers who obviously are not going to win anything in the air, when they want ball to feet to have a run? Midfield was imho shocking last night, second to everything, lost out in the 50/50 tackles and their passing was simply woeful. Kee and Paterson kept running the channels and every single pass was over hit to them - poor.
Whinge over, Saturday will be difficult after WW pumped Rotherham 3 - 2 at the New York stadium, could be another uneasy afternoon unless GR stops this high ball malarkey and starts to get the lads playing their good flowing football again.
Ok you can not win them all , we lost 0-1, its a good job that this game was not an away game because we would have lost by a lot more goals. The Brewers were very poor , very tired and made a very average team look good.
I would have to blame most of what happend last night on GR , his tactics we very poor. If GR knew his team were that tired he would have been better putting a team together with fresh legs and we may of stood a chance. The hoof football needs sorting out GR, its ok mixing it up but please do we need to hoof every ball. Our Strikers need the be passed to them on the ground and not from 50 feet in
the air.
Come on Brewers lets put this behind us and start playing good football, which we know you can.
Please GR get your tactics right.
JFWqwerty6 - the voice of complete common sense! Yes we were tired, yes we've played 3 games in 5/6 days - but there were a bunch of players on the bench gagging for a game, so GR should have mixed it up.
Tactically GR also got the game completely wrong. Lumping balls high in the air to Kee and Paterson is just rubbish. Neither of them are particularly good in the air and up against two huge central defenders just what did he expect from them? Both of these strikers are exceptional with the ball at their feet, they need it fed into them or down the channels - how many passes did you count from midfield to the strikers? I counted zero!!
It is not disaster, we are not doomed, but we need to get back to the excellent passing game that we had for so many games.
GR you need to stop and think about your tactics with the players you have available and get it right.
