Strangely, light and cheese were not on the Lighting Certification exam. I’ve worked with a few customers who have LED merchandiser lighting, but this was a new one for me. On the BART train home I fired up my web browser and started researching.

I found an excellent doctoral thesis from far off Norway. Norwegians rank 13th globally for cheese consumption per capita at 19.5 kg per person per year according to the Canadian Dairy Information Center (France, for comparison, consumes the most at 26.8 kg per person per year). Thus this thesis, published by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and authored by Natthorn Intawiwat, seemed like a worthwhile read through.

The Hammond organ is an electric organ invented by Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert and first manufactured in 1935. Various models have been produced, most of which use sliding drawbars to vary sounds. Until 1975, Hammond organs generated sound by creating an electric current from rotating a metal tonewheel near an electromagnetic pickup, and then strengthening the signal with an amplifier to drive a speaker cabinet. The organ is commonly used with the Leslie speaker.

Parts of Yorkshire were pelted with hailstones the size of a £2 coin during thunderstorms.

Photographs posted on social media showed people in Leeds and Sheffield cradling handfuls of the icy precipitation.

The "large" hailstones in the images appeared to be between 3 and 4 cm in size, a Met office meteorologist said.

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and rain is in place for much of the UK until 09:00 on Saturday.

Coronation Street viewers were furious with Fiz tonight for her "cheeky" behaviour.

Fiz was lamenting to Tyrone that all their conversations are about food and the kids, and they are getting bogged down in domesticity.

To make a point, she grabbed Evelyn's diary, and started to read out all the events in her social calendar.

She told Tyrone: "Do you think we're in that middle age bit?"

But viewers were completely distracted by Fiz's audacity to read Evelyn's diary when she wasn't in the house.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 23rd goal of the season as Juventus moved seven points clear at the top of Serie A with victory over 10-man Lecce.

The visitors had Fabio Lucioni sent off for a foul in the first half before Paulo Dybala struck from outside the box just after the break.

Ronaldo drove home a powerful penalty after being brought down before setting up substitute Gonzalo Higuain.

Defender Matthijs de Ligt then headed in a late third for the dominant hosts.

Ronaldo, who also scored a penalty in the 2-0 win at Bologna on Monday, has now scored 23 goals in 24 league appearances this season.

The win means Juventus extend their advantage over title rivals Lazio, who have a game in hand and could reduce the deficit back to four points if they beat Fiorentina on Saturday.

Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin is set to be elected taoiseach (Irish prime minister) at a special meeting of the Irish parliament later.

On Friday, members of Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party backed a programme for government, paving the way for an historic coalition.

Voters went to the polls in a general election in February but no party received a majority.

Coalition talks were then halted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The two larger parties needed the support of the Greens to have a working majority in the Irish parliament (the Dáil).

The party leaders and their negotiating teams reached agreement on a coalition deal earlier in June.

Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have their origins in the Irish Civil War almost 100 years ago and have never been in coalition together.

After the deal was endorsed on Friday evening, Mr Martin described it as a "moment of opportunity and hope".

Mr Martin is expected to be taoiseach for two and a half years and then hand the job over to Leo Varadkar, the Fine Gael leader and current caretaker taoiseach.

Milton Glaser, the influential American graphic designer who created the "I ♥ NY" logo, has died aged 91.

Made for a 1977 tourism campaign, the logo rapidly gained recognition across the world and has been described as the most frequently imitated in history.

Glaser later said he was "flabbergasted by what happened to this little, simple nothing of an idea".

He also created a famous poster of Bob Dylan with psychedelic hair and was a co-founder of New York magazine.

The cause of his death was a stroke, his wife Shirley told the New York Times.
