Good stuff that Otep well done. For me i dont get the feeling when are the wheels going to drop off with this set of players like i did with Pescs squad. There is no way we will be hanging on to the andrex at every game hoping to secure points to retain our league status. This unit is alot more solid all round and i will be delighted to finish in the top ten with comfort.
Good article Otep, i agree about the standards,we have improved but the league is also much more competitive this season. We are a mid table team but could be and should be higher with the players we have. Have no fear of a collapse in 2nd half of the season. I believe the return of Tommo between the sticks is paramount to the rest of the season but i wish we would play more aggresively and adventurously in more games and utilise the strength and quality of the players we have. Having said that we are a work in progress and mid table safety will be a vast improvement. I would hope the management will add further quality to the squad in the close season.
I agree with what I read above. We are likely a mid-table team this season, and that is surely an improvement over the last two seasons. I, too, do not see the wheels coming off our wheelbarrow.
Otep, Emnez, et al - very good to read your comments. Common sense, sanity, clear eyes - all good traits. Thanks Gents and Have a Merry Christmas . . .
For "et al" - please read "terraceman"
My excuse is "old age" (can I get away with that one?) . . . .
Much happier this season with the squad in general .I think Gary Rowett is doing very well with his able assistant Kevin Summerfield and have improved the squad from last year . Although we have reached the dizzy heights of the play offs positional wize already this term , a top ten finish will be a vast improvement in my eyes with two very good cup runs to hopefully improve the bank balance even if as will be expected we go out to Leicester in the next round .
I think you're going well. You're only one point off 7th place and three off 3rd. Compared with the latter part of last season things have moved on very well. There seems to be a mood of optimism around compared with the despondency in the latter days of the Pesc era. Gary Rowett and Kevin Summerfield know what they're doing. Kevin has a very good grasp of League 2 and much of the credit for our (Swindon's) success in our Paul Sturrock era belongs to him.
Realistically I'd back you for 6th/7th, you seem to be able to get results on the road and if your home form improved a little you'd be a real threat.
Happy Christmas guys, it's a pleasure to talk to you all.
PS Did anyone see my lads demolition of Tranmere on The Football League Show? Our best performance for a long time, early Christmas for me!
Yes i was well impressed ,maybe Mr Di Canio will work his magic and get you back to back promotions !
Perhaps, if he keeps a tenuous hold on his sanity...and that's a big 'if'.
Seriously though, we love the nutter.
