Yeah sacked just. Thank God we have his Son managing our club

..and so could you be, Spartacus.

Clough's done nothing yet except that which he's been forced to do, and he hasn't even done that very well. He continues with his ridiculous 4-5-1 away from home, resulting in a Jeckyll-and-Hyde team which regularly capitulates on the road yet is effective at Pride Park. In a division of inconsistency, he's managed to create a consistent inconsistency.. Hurrah?

As well as his rank lack of personality and baffling man management "technique", Clough sits in the dugout, resolutely arms folded, unable to effect changes or inspire his fledgling players. His substitutions are often so long after the horse has bolted it defies belief, otherwise baffling to the observer.

Clough out

I was at Charlton last week 666...and we played 4-4-2. Nobody mentioned the 4-5-1 when we won 2-0 at Bristol City.

I was wrong once 666, never again.

He's comfortable folding his arms... sack him!!!

I remember another manager who used to sit with his arms folded. Only time I ever saw him not like that was when he stood up to punch a Forest fan.

666....are you for real? Terry Westley? He left derby in 2006 when BD tookover. Has any club took him on as manger since? I mean being such a highly rated manager? He didn't do too well at luton a few years ago. I've never took to Clough tbf but there isn't a manager who's not in work that I'd replace clough with.

666's problem is that he is being dragged kicking and screaming into the 'Clough in' camp - and it stings a bit. A bit like putting TCP on a cut - but in the end you know it's the right thing to do.

OOE, it's a bit soon to be lauding Clough. We know his ceiling as manager, or at least to be fair I should say his coaching staff's ceiling. We are flattering to deceive again, and yes it's nice to win a few in style. But let's not forgot the amount of sheer underperformance we've had to endure, as recently as last week!

Owd Mostyn... the only man who views wins as PROOF that the manager had failed to motivate the players when we lost

Are you classing Charlton 1-1 Derby & Derby 3-1 M'boro as under-performance now Mostyn?

Not quite sure what you're chuntering on about MILFY, but I'm pretty sure the next time Derby roll over to a team who we should be competing against, like Burnley for example, you'll be quick to point to lack of investment or something, and totally overlook Nigel (and staff)'s motivational skills!

Griff:

He did well here, especially at academy level, and I was sorry to see him forced out. The fact he's not been handed the opportunity Clough's had isn't a reflection on his ability, it's merely down to not having a famous dad.

I think that's too easy. If a manager's good enough, talent will out. Westley could have easily applied for jobs in lower leagues or even non-league and built a reputation. Which is actually what Clough did when you think about it. He didn't walk straight into a top job like Gareth Southgate.

Westley went when BD took over. Yeah he's good at Academy level but not has a manager. What doesn't help Westley may be the fact that he failed at luton and he's seen as an academy genius.

Nobody can say that Derby aren't in a better state both on and off the pitch since NC took over...TBF to GSE they seem to be running the club with caution. Have we had a better ownership? Pickering nearly finished us, Gadsby saved us but I don't think he had the ££'s to maintain us...I'm not a GSE fan, but they own the club I support and it looks very unlikely take us into situations regarding finances we've found ourselves numerous times in the last 30 years. Steady progression. Look at how many teams recently in the prem have found themselves in the 3rd tier with major finance issues. Wolves and Birmingham could be the next clubs. GSE have prevented that happening to us. Yes alright we all want to be successful but I'm grateful just to have a club to watch.

No Mostyn, we DON'T know his ceiling as a manager. All we know is you don't like him, you don't rate him and, like most people on messageboards who claim to be 'in the know' about certain matters, you often come across as a bit silly when your 'inside information' turns out to be pie in the sky.

Wassa, as I said I'm not a fan but at the moment there isn't anyone better prepared to takeover. Have we ever had a more responsible ownership? Do we want owners like Pickering again...."live today, ruined tomorrow" Yeah I want a board who will throw money at the squad, stadium etc but not if it risks the clubs future.

posted on 5/1/13

Griff and I've told you before, I'm not asking GSE to plough millions into the club, and as you say risk the clubs future. All I'm asking for is a million here and a million there, and give Nigel Clough a chance, instead of having to put full backs in centre half positions, and wingers in centre forward positions. Lets bring an out an out centre forward in (Sharpe) and an out an out centre half in (Shackell)

posted on 5/1/13

They can't throw a million here and a million there if its not available at the club. We've never had a ownership that was able to throw a million here and a million there without risking the future of the club. Unless you want the owners to sell Hughes, brayford etc....be careful what you ask the board to do.

posted on 5/1/13

Griff all I'm going to say on the matter is, it's a good job Nigel Clough is in charge, cause no other manager will put up with what Nigel has had to endure by our owners. That's by bringing in lower league players, Coventry got away with it.
