Hope wee davie's been listenin to the bears he's surrounded with at home...
in all seriousness a bit of a shambolical set up
1 league of 20
another of 22
easy
Still with the double split.
Maybe they all need it all made very clear.
SPLITS
DO
NOT
WORK
Braintrusts - seriously - this is what our national game has?
To quote Private Fraser = "We're doomed, DOOMED"
Here's a good idea,why don't we add more teams
2 10's in the bottom tier would be better, afterall what chance do the current 3rd division clubs have against current 2nd division sides in a big league of 18??
plus why should someone like gala fairydean or spartans be allowed entry to the SFL??
TRFC - your argument can easily be extended to "what chance have the top 4 in the middle tier against the bottom 4 in the top tier?"
cooper i agree the whole thing is flawed but the top 4 of the current 1st division stand a better chance against current SPL than the difference between SFL2 & SFL3 imo.
in any event it doesn't really matter how you wrap it up the whole thing is designed to esure the top division remains unchanged and i can't believe the SFL clubs would vote for this
Of course it is. SFL show should some balls here and send it back to SPL with comment 16-10-16 or nothing.
14-14-14, play each other 3 times. Gives us 39 games, surely 3 OF derbies is enough!!! 2 up and 2 down with play off for the 3rd bottom and 3rd top in the next league.
Relegation into regional leagues from the bottom of 3rd division, maybe even play offs, having an odd number of fixtures might create a little hassle, but just alternate the extra home fixture every season
This is also a pathetic idea.
Eh? ONE extra home fixture - how does that work. Surely if you play each other 3 times, you play twice at home and once away per team (or vice versa). And with promotion & relegation, this cannot be balanced out the following season.
Odd numbers of matches don't work I am afraid, and it can only be playing each other twice or 4 times.
Yes you play each other 3 times, but you only play some teams 3 times as it is. Trying to fit in a split for 4th OF game is what makes everything messy, like I said you can alternate most fixture every season.
So ditch the split. It is a complete joke anyway, and now the einsteins want TWO splits.

so 2 clubs are against this? interesting
Nope, only 1 - remember we don't get a vote.
Complete disaster.

Folk moan about the uneven home/away against certain teams at the moment. To do this with every team every season seems mental. A top 14 with a 6/8 split would be ok for SPL but that wouldn't work with the lower leagues.
A bottom league of 18 wouldn't make it more difficult for teams to get in 2nd tier. With the proposed 2 up 2 down and play off places 3 teams a year would make it into 2nd tier as opposed to one in 10/10 at the bottom. The SFL clubs need to figure out what's best for them, but would two extra mouths to feed be that? Would the 10-10 bottom leagues remove the regionalised pyramid idea? I'd imagine a good few clubs at the bottom would be against this.
I actually like the idea of the 12/12 8/8/8 split. For me it definitely creates more meaningful games and excitement considering the league title is only going to be won by one team for the forseeable future. Teams may feel aggrieved about having 20 odd points more than last place after 22 games, points being reset and getting relegated but at least there is something to play for and that means bigger crowds. There are plenty of problems with this set up like making sure everyone in top two leagues plays 22 games by a certain date but I we should go for it. You only have to read how the Belgian league is set up to see that this idea isn't that mental.
