Interesting article, before I give my opinion on it, it is important to correct a few errors;

Mclaren have been highly competitive for the last 3 years.
---------
Last year, yes the years before they've had a decent car at some tracks and not so good for the rest. In 2010, the f-duct helped a lot in the high speed tracks.
=====================

As good as the red bull in 2010
====================
Wrong, the redbull was the class of the field in 2010, the crash kid and webber almost threw away the championship with their incompetence but they were the fastest cars on the grid over the course of the season.

2011
============
the redbull was the class of the field and to suggest anyone was a match for them is dishonest. You yourself said it was a malfunctioning kers that made Hamilton win in China, so again, that is wrong. Vettel was imperious in 2011 and his car was the best on the grid by a mile
======================

And better than red bull throughout 2012
------------
Again that is not true and I honestly wonder if you are being deliberately dishonest or just on the wind up. The Mclaren was competitive for most of the year but when the races moved away from Europe, the redbull came to he fore with Vettel winning 3-4 races on the trot in dominant style and subsequently only Hamilton could challenge Vettel as his Newey designed car clinched another title.
========================

only the highly intelligent and brilliant vettel and the two mclaren drivers inability to glean the maximum from the pirelli tyres as vettel did have prevented mclaren from major silverware for the last few years
--------------------
Wrong again. Adrian's Newey is responsible for Vettel's dominance. He hasn't shown at any other level that he is something special, constantly missing apexes and radioing for help when he can't perform simple overtakes isn't the behaviour of an intelligent or supremely talented driver.
==============================

Regarding Button, my concern with him is if the car isn't set up to his tastes, he can't mix it with the best of them and Mclaren are a team that are adept at self harm.

Last year, they cost Hamilton alone over 90 points and unless they've sorted out their internal incompetence, the same thing will happen again.

I also do not believe he can compete consistently over the course of a season with Alonso and now that Hamilton is no longer at Mclaren, JB won't be able to copy his set up to assist him like he did last year.

He will certainly win a couple of races but a sustained title challenge is beyond him unless the Mclaren is as dominant as the 2011 RedBull

fraid to say manx i think they must have put a different F1 broadcast on my tele these last 3 years than the one that has been on yours --

if you look at the wider picture it is very hard to determine exactly who has had the quickest car for the last 3 years , just because vettel has won the last 3 WDCs it does not necessarily follow that red bull have had the better car -

will agree that red bull were very competitive during 2010 but mclaren could match them on alot of the tracks

,the same for 2011 - mclaren were able to get there exhaust blown diffuser working to great effect and very often had the beating of webber if not vettel which makes me believe that it was vettel and vettel alone that had the beating of mclaren in what was of course a very competitive RB --
--- if the RB7 was so superior why were mclaren able to blow webber off -

as for 2012 - RB were allways on the back foot from race 1 because they based the RB8 purely around there blown diffuser and flexi wing principles and when the fia took away those two things it hurt red bull more than the other teams and effectively they were playing catch up all season to mclaren -

as for button -- tend to agree with you there , if the mp4/28 is to his liking and based around his style he will perform in the thing , if it is not he will struggle -

Blah, blah, blah, (hate hamilton), blah, blah, blah (praise Vettel), blah, blah, blah, bash hamilton, blah, blah, blah, praise anyone but Hamilton.

If you think that the 2011 RedBull wasn't the fastest car on the grid, then there really is no point debating with you.
