Doubt it.
Especially if we win this test.
Leave out Swann. He has looked toothless against the right handers. He hasnt even managed to beat the edge of a right handed batsman in this series. The two wickets that he got were down to the batsmen playing across the line.I know the wickets havent suited him but I think India would much rather face Swann than Tremlett or Bresnan.
We arent going to play 5 bowlers unless we have a genuine batsman who bowls(Stokes in a year's time maybe).Until then we will and should play 6 batsmen.I would play James Taylor instead of Morgan.Morgan looks WAY SHORT of Test Class.
No point of chopping and changing...... morgan did well in this game, give him some time.....
Afridi
He faced the part time spin of Raina and Yuvraj. We all know he is good against spin dont we?But his technique against the moving ball is shocking tbh.
As soon as he faced the new ball what happened?Gone.
Since you live in England afridi I am sure you must have seen James Taylor bat.If you havent then check him out mate. The guy looks quality
Bresnan or Morgan?
At the moment Bresnan but England have had success with 6 batsmen so I would expect them to continue with that formula.
I have seen james taylor bat, but I'd still stick with morgan.... We're in 2011 now mate, the days of 90's have gone for england..... one of the main reasons for england performing consistently and attatining the number1 spot (which they will do) is the selectors being consistent....... worked with broad this time around, has worked with Ian bell in the past aswell..... now unless you have a quality proven batsmen waiting in the wings, id stick with morgan
But Morgan doesnt look like a long term option to me.And I m not saying this bcoz he has failed in these 2 Tests.I have been saying all along that I wanted Taylor.
Ginger
What about Swann?I told you mate he would struggle.
3 quickies and Swan is perfect...
JPB
i do like tremlett too and hope he makes a speedy recovery, but like you say bresnan as come in and not let the side down.
i do believe bresnan is better with the bat too then tremlett which i think went in hes favour over finn being selected.

You angry with me?Not responding to my comments?
Why would we change the balance of the side when things are going so well!
Morgan will have a run in the side and the chance to improve against the moving quicker ball

how long's he been playing cricket for ? 20 years ?
how is he going to get a good technique over a couple of games ?
Shanky
Angry, why?
I would still use Swann. He may be handy tomorrow.
JPB - he's new to test cricket and its a step up for 1st class and short form internationals. People improve through playing tests, in fact everybody gets better through a long test career. England give people time to find their feet expect Morgan to be playing this winter
fair comment yorkshire. we have certainly had worse top 6 batsman in my opinion. i think there is a good argument though that we have a strong enough top 5 and a strong enough lower middle order (probably the strongest we have ever had with the possile exception of flintoff, stewart, white) to play 5 bowlers. 5 bowlers would appear to me to play to our strengths.
The last time England played 5 bowlers was in Bangladesh when Treadwell replaced Carberry in the second test.
I cannot see them playing 5 bowlers again until we return to sub continent conditions.
If it ain't broke why try and fix it.

can you imagine either of these players getting in the side now ?
Its a fair argument but Flower clearly favours 7 batsman and its working. The problem is when our bowling attack is so strong the 5th bowler would do nothing, so really the 5th bowler could do with being a top class alrounder (a young Kallis would be nice) maybe in time Ben Stokes will bat at 6 and he can bowl too but for now definately 7 proper batsman and 4 proper bowlers.

i think an assumption that we will always skittle sides out for less than 300 would be dangerous. there are likely to be times when we are up against it in the field. it is always easier for a captain to have 5 geniune bowlers, and always more difficult for the opposition.
regarding the high quality allrounder, i think we already have him in broad. he just oozes class when he bats. the idea of him batting 9 as he has done in this game is just wasteful. he looks like at least a 7 to me.
I dont think we'll always knock sides over for nothing but in recent history thats the case and when we have to spend time in the field we've got a fantastic spinner who holds up an end while the 3 quicks rotate. Well at the moment cant really argue that Broad is a high class alrounder he playing unbelievably in this series with both bat and ball looks like taking a wicket every ball.

i am not angry.I thought you were angry.
Just tell me ginger
Do you think Swann is more likely to trouble India than Bresnan or Tremlett?
Lets not play a spinner for the sake of it.Swann hasnt even managed to beat the edge of the bat of a right hander. He has been very disappointing.

Swann may tomorrow?
No i think. He has looked very ordinary. Its down to the seamers IMO.
Ginger I would like to ask you again
Do you think Swann is more likely to trouble India than Bresnan or Tremlett?
If no then he shouldnt play.4 seamers should be the way to go about it.
