"GLAD ITS ALL OVER" .The First time in my 20 + years, I also walked out after goal 6. What a pile of cr p GR , I dont mind being beat by a better team, but all the basic of basic football tactics went out the window. What the hell are you lot doing on the training ground.
On what I saw last night and the very poor performance when we played against Chesterfield I dont give us much hope on Tuesday night. As Wycombe and any other team will see points to be had from a broken down nail with all four wheels almost hanging off. The Brewers will be lucky to make the play offs, but if we hang on to 7th spot do I Want to see us being hammerd again and again. The bubble has burst for me this season and top 10 will do. On what we saw last night I just can not see half of this team being at Burton Albion next season.
Unsurprisingly no-one corrected predicted the score and the only league table news of note was that Captain Utd reached 3 figures. I wonder how many more of us will achieve that.
1) Captain Utd - 100
2) Foxy Freddy - 95
3) JFWqwerty6 - 94
4) Stuart44 - 85
5) Marco - 83
6) Otep - 83
7) Don Touched My Boots - 80
8) Emnez - 78
9) Old Brrokender - 75
10) Steve1210 - 75
11) Derby Yellow - 73
12) Burton Boy - 68
13) Terraceman - 66
14) Ady1963 - 60
15) Brewer Dave - 48
16) Frank Ashton - 45
17) BAFC 123 - 35
The disappointment of last night’s performance and result are clear to see but the facts that remain are the position we are in and the team we have assembled are of credit to Gary and the staff, by no means are we the finished article but a result like last night gives the signal not to rest on our laurels and while we were 5th in the table I’m sure me and most Brewers fans appreciated that we were a few places higher than we should be given the quality of teams in the top half.
My point is the league table doesn’t lie but it’s only the position we finish at the end of April that matters, we can all enjoy the fact we made 2nd but reality kicks home when the dust has settled after game 46.
We’ve had nothing short of a great season let’s get behind the boys and see this home to dabble in the playoffs and then the promise of more quality signings next season to maintain our rise!
One question lads what position would you have taken at the start of the season?
Come on your Brewers!!!
In the top ten , after last seasons dogfight. But seeing a team with pride and fight is what the fans want to see win or lose. That pile of cr p last night is not what any club in League football would want from their team, even if the club was at the top or bottom of the league table.
I think GR and the players owe the fans of this club big time after last night. Heads would roll at other clubs for less.
Come on Brewers its time to get your pride back.
Yes Captain Utd, it's only one game. I also thought on my surreal walk away from the ground before an hour of the game had gone that;
a) We are not in a relegation fight this year. Hurrah !
b) We are surely going to be in the play-offs. Hurrah!
c) We would all have laughed at anyone who said last August we would be where we are now.
As you can tell I did a lot of thinking walking to the car.
I said this last year after Bristol Rovers. For me losing 7-1 is easier to take than 3-0 or 4-0. You have moved from the realms of a painful bad defeat in to the comedy zone.
Another thought I had last night was that it was so ridiculously bad that it is an occasion for an apologetic act or gesture by the club.
Some away games have ticket stubs, some don't. Last night was a ticket stub occasion thus producing proof of attendance. Therefore there is the opportunity to apologise directly to those who witnessed that shambles.
Other clubs have done it.
Yes, if you didn't attend, it really was that bad.
Yes Otep, I think you have hit the nail on the head. Billy Smarts "COMEDY ZONE"
Well done Otep . That is what eveyone on the coach on the way home said. They owe us big time and yes it was so bad.
Agree with your comments Otep & JFWqwerty6 when you lose 7-1 it has gone from bad to hilarious, when I left the Memorial ground last year at 5-1 then heard 2 more cheers as I walked up the hill my thoughts turned to my next pint rather than the result.
looking at your comments and me too walking away from the radio ha ha! at least i kept my money in my pocket made me feel sick to the stomach . We still need points to get into the play offs ,by my calculations and teams playing others around the top, 6 pts should be enough , our hopes of automatic i fear have gone despite results today , Bradford are almost back in the mix for the play offs ,and guess what, yes we are going to almost certainly hand them three more in a week or so when we travel there to valley parade . This next week is crucial 4pts minimum just to have a chance of the play offs im afraid unless we have to beat Gillingham on our final game . Strangely today all the sides lost around us with the exception of Bradford so dare i say we could still win automatic ,no ... looking at Nothamptons run in, they will get up to around 77pts too many for us in our current form . Exeter or us will miss out to accomodate Bradford watch this space .
Good results for you today, dust yourselves down and win the next 4, job done
Luckily i didnt go through work commitments but lets all calm down because the next match is critical.I think we will win on Tuesday with ease so that puts pressure on all the teams scrapping for the play offs.Sleep soundly calm yourselves and get ready for the play off final.
It's bad but...
Northampton, Cheltenham, Rotherham and Exeter all lost today.
Gillingham are promoted - and won't be desperate for poins on the last day because surely they'll have the Championship sewn up by then.
In my totally objective view there are 3 clubs with a chance of the third spot - Brewers, Northampton and Cheltenham. There's no big goal difference issue. Someone's got to take it.
It can still be done
It's easier for us, as 'outsiders', to be objective don
Burton are very capable of winning 4 games... Fact
worse case scenario will be the playoffs... Bradford will catch Exeter if anyone... And playoffs would still be a terrific achievement
I stayed to the end and applauded Paterson off the pitch. Okay we got battered but at least one player showed heart and desire. For me Sharps, Symes, MacDonald and Fowler had nightmares add to that Tommo bot dealing with anything and we got the hiding we deserved. Results have spectacularly gone our way this weekend so let's try and forget tgis and get on with winning that third automatic spot. UTBs
Still haven't got over it! It was such a poor performance all over the pitch. Thankfully we're still in the hunt burt Tuesdays game is a must win at all costs even if it means dropping all the ineffectual plays. Paterson has for me been outstanding this season in the games I've seen him play, he must start and fingers crossed Billy will be back so at least we will have a threat, Friday's formation was simply wrong and GR must take the blame for it. Onwards and upwards we can still do this.
Yes, I agree Paterson must play. We have looked woeful upfront in the last 3 games. Sure, we scored 3 at Accrington but 2 were gifts and the 3rd was scored by Zander.
I still can't believe that I saw Fowler give the ball away and just stand on the spot and watch the Vale attack. It was only 2-0 at that point aswell. He will have to be extremely good from now to earn my respect. To think we have sent Macca out on loan to York too.
Iam still not happy about Friday , but I have calmed down now. I would give GR some respect if he takes it on the chin and says he got the tactics wrong big time. If he would have played 4-4-2, I think we would have still lost but not a thrashing. GR 1 up front does not work for us. Not one player in the line of five behind our lone striker wanted to take charge and cut into the area. What chance was there of a goal. With no pressure on Vale they put most of there men up front and just attacked us , wave after wave. With all of our player not knowing where they sould be on the pitch, they where running around like headless chickens. Anyway , tacktics so so wrong.
