I agree people do go a bit over the top. However on the other hand for me these sort of performances have been happening all season and many last season aswell. I have said it plenty of times that I can't really think of any games where we have been excellent throughout. One reason for me is we simply do not have a first X1. Yeah it's a squad game however the constant swapping and changing of players EVERY game has to have an impact on the players. Also too many times players getting played out of position. Rooney playing left, welbeck on the right, giggs in the centre, smalling or jones on the right or jones in midfield. It really does need to stop. Yeah we have done really well to grind the results out but even if we do win the league which we should I have to admit its the flattest I have felt after a title win and that was even before the game last night.

Rooneys Boot

I can see what your saying mate, but t i think some of the problem is that the guys thought SAF should of made a change earlier than what did, we were getting over run in midfield and he never addressed it.

if we had a CM to partner Carrick we wouldn't have lost. Giggs should never be played in a position in which ball retention and tidy possession are the two of the main attributes required. Cleverley was on the bench ffs why play Giggs in CM?

We have walked the league and it is down to one thing but that one thing is City's regression. United still need major investment in several areas of the pitch.

you've walked the league thanks to:
1. Fergie / team ethos
2. Mancini being a damp squib
3. Depth
4. City & Chelsea regression

go celebrate

you earned and deserved this title

Anderson, Cleverley, Jones all fit all better options. We do have options, Fergus just refuses to use them when he should.

rooney was the worst player on the pitch, at least giggs was willing to get on the ball, rooney just couldnt give a toss atm, "he's the heartbeat of our team" i hear this boIIocks so many times, is he f uck if he was we'd be about 15th judging by his performances

Jones??? He had to play at the back

Phil Jones came of age last night. That was the only major positive for me from the whole game. He was up against a quality side playing well and he had a cracking game.

Our centre back curse is getting scary though. It just seems to continue year after year after year. 3 missing last night through injury.

And that was the most embarassing midfield display I have seen in a long time from us in a Big match. No where near the standard required.

Spot on guys

I've given (deservedly IMO) Jones a hard time about his attempts at midfield and attack but he was a beast at centrehalf last night.

Probably time to end the failed experiment of turning him into a mid and just play him in a position he's suited to.

We don't need Garay unless Rio leaves or Vidic is struggling.

Play Jones in defence and go and buy two quality midfielders.

Fergie won't do that though. It's far too simple a solution.

We have far too many centre backs, at least until Vidic/Ferdinand leave. We're up to 5, and I am fairly confident regardless of which 2 play, though I am slightly more confident when at least one of Rio/Vidic play.

Far too many might be a slight exaggeration I just meant we don't need more, yet.

Good point mate he showed what he could last night and like Stretty says play him at the back and spend the money on the midfield

thought carrick played well last night, made so many interceptions, was pressing them high up the pitch when necessary and always seemed to have time on the ball and pick the right pass.

RVP as well - alots been said about his lack of goals but he set up the goal, the chance for Rafael and his overall play was good - we just didn't really create anything for him and that was down to the wingers and to rooney really.
