Him and Wilshere spent most of their time on the floor
Cazorla Our Maestro and Playmaker
Yesterday only for the last 30 minutes.
I was one of those calling for Wilshere playin in the centre and Cazorla playing out wide. I was wrong. Santi looks a different player in the middle. His influence there is far in excess of what Wilshere has done.
Wilshere in the middle and Santi out wide shouldn't be discounted. It's an option. But the plan A should be Cazorla in the middle and Wilshere in the withdrawn deep laying midfield role.
Why does wenger play wilshere central and cazorla on the left, silly, would rather have played podolski out wide with cazorla central
I kept asking, when AW will end his Cazorla-as-LW experiment...
If AW goes for form and that gives him the reason why he benched Podolski, why start Jack (also Theo) yesterday and not playing Rosicky?
Did Santi really played good and track back all the time (which people claimed Poldi did not) when playing as LW? How many goals and attack Santi generated there, TBH?
Was it a smart move to move Santi out wide to accomodate Rosicky (or not in form Jack) and leave Podolski, our best crosser and finisher on the bench most of the time?
I agree of what Dubbed said, Santi should be the CAM, and our best forward combination is Poldi-Giroud-Theo. Feck the balance issue. We should send our best men out there to start, ALWAYS; and not wait till the last 10 minutes and HOPE they would rescue us and win us games.
Cazorla is light years ahead of any of the other players in the team.
Problem is Wenger will carry on persisting with Wilshere in the middle and Santi out wide.
It's kills our momentum and any fluency in midfield
Cazorla is not as good as Rosicky in that role.
Santi is a midfielder, it amuses me when people want him played out wide. As soon as Wilshere went off and he moved central yesterday, we suddenly started dominating the game and looked like scoring. That's no coincidence.
We shouldn't play our best player out of position just so Wilshere can fit in. He should fight his way into the team, whether it be with Ramsey or Arteta.
@Jenius
Cazorla is different type player of Rosicky.
Rosicky is good, but does not mean Cazorla is not doing good as CAM. They offer 2 different types of attack.
442 a la invincibles is the way to go.
Ox Ramsey jack Rosicky
Cazorla
Podolski
Cazorla is not a second striker and Podolski is not a lone striker.
We obviously need a new striker next year. But Cazorla could easily play there, its essentially where he plays now. This would just give him a bit more freedom as rosicky and ox would defend more than Walcott, gerv, podolski etc
Don't think it would work tbh. He plays as an CAM for us atm (or on the left), that's quite different from playing as a second striker. He'd had to get into the box a lot more and I wouldn't really want that tbh, I like him in midfield running things.
Mata is kind of like a second striker with more freedom, if y'know what I mean. He gets into the box a lot.
Bergkamp wasn't far off a cam. If the ox pushed further up, and rosicky tucked in a little, I could see it working. But I guess that is pretty much what we do anyway. I'd just like to see cazorla get his shooting boots on, he's been disappointing in that respect for me.
"Cazorla is not as good as Rosicky in that role."
Is this a joke? I respect your opinion Jenius. And you generally talk sense.
But that's bullsh'it.
I agree with Andre's Scarf. Cazorla can cause a lot of damage further up the pitch.
He'll need to brush up on finishing a little. But on the off chance that we sign Jovetic. Him with Cazorla behind would be lethal.
Bergkamp played both CAM and as a second striker. There isn't THAT much of a different between the two, but CAMs concentrate more on controlling games and changing games from deeper than second strikers. They don't get in the box as much either obviously. He would be wasted further up the pitch imo...not wasted but y'know, we need his qualities more in midfield.
Jovetic would be the ideal signing tbh. A technical all-round striker. Drops deep, creates, assists, scores...the lot.
Still ruing the fact we sold RVP to United of all people.
Will never get over that one.
There's always something missing from our team. Always.
"Cazorla is not as good as Rosicky in that role."
I agree a fully fit Rosicky is the best player in that role. His aggressive, change of speed and more importantly always looks ahead. Cazorla should be second choice after Rosicky to play in the slot in which Wilshere failed last night.
Rosicky? That guy's long gone. Finished. To mention him alongside Cazorla is laughable, and borderline criminal.
Rosicky is not finished, he's still a quality player but his injury problems are annoying. He's still got a lot to offer imo.
Cazorla is a class above though, not sure how anybody could think otherwise. The only thing mozart has got over him is that burst of pace where he dribbles 3 or 4 players. So Santi can do pretty much any think mozart can do, plus more.
Rosicky has been finished for a long while. Only reason he looks so good is cause we little else.
Rosicky plays the ball early and is incredibly direct. Thats why he has always played in that role for country and Dortmund. The problem was that when he came to this country he had Cesc in front him. So he was moved to the wing. That was never his natural position and not where Rosicky made his name. Rosicky links the attack superbly but he lacks the threat on goal.
Cazorla is an incredible player who can play multiple positions equally well. But he has never been a master of one position. That was the accusation at him in Malaga/Vilarreal. Cazorla is a little bit side-to-side. Liga is an attacking league and defending is not the top of any team's agenda. So playing the ball early with a high tempo is not as important. But its vital in the premier league and you cannot allow defenders to reform their back line. Premiership defenders are far more physically fit and so the time between passing the ball early is very limited.
Now we are talking of the present squad. Obviously I would much prefer someone to replace Rosicky, who is injury prone and its only going to get worse at his age.
There are very few players who can do that type of role. So I would prefer Arsene to abandon the 'Cesc' type player and buy a Bergkamp type striker instead. Joevtic is the closest to that type of the players who are linked to us. The perception is that Dennis played in midfield. He never ever did. So he needed two defensively minded players behind him. Gilberto/Vieira are far superior to Ramsey, Arteta and Wilshere.
The problem will be if Arsene does buy a Capoue type, who of Ramsey/Wilshere will Arsene pick from? Ramsey has improved a lot this season and Wilshere is the golden boy who can combat Barca when fully fit. Not easy.
I hope Arsene doesn't chicken-out of making a decision and not buy a Bergkamp type. Neither Ramsey nor Wilshere can play central attacking midfield.
