I think one of the things with the ROG penalty was that were players out there who had given it everything for 160 minutes and then he came on for 1 minute and tried to be a hero. If it was one of the players who had played both games then you could understand it, but really he had no right to try to run that ball and give away possession, and to give away a pathetic penalty like that just compounded it. I can understand the players getting round and supporting him as a team mate, but I can also understand those who were seething mad at what he did.
Mate its all water under the bridge. I think your taking it a wee bit beyond a criticism at this point.
Have to also disagree on Sexton. He is an incredible player. Completely underutilized by the last irish manager who was a proponent of the munster way of playing rugby.Sexton is a beast in defence as well as being an attacking general and a fly half who can score trys. The problem and this is universal to any team. First the back tow have to secure good ball, recycle it and phillips needs to deliver it fast and flat. If that happens Sexton is a genius at releasing the backline and you will see lots of pretty trys.
Cmon Ding, if we just say it's water under the bridge after, what's the point in playing at all ?
I'm glad to hear that Sexton is a genius though, and am expecting no less than Jonathon Davies like brilliance in a red jersey now
Ive just stuck the 2nd test on.
Unbelievably, the French TMO from the first game is ref in this game.
Im watching the SA coverage of the game, and they show the conversation between the touch judge and the ref after the burger gouging incident. The touch judge told the ref that he had clearly seen burger put his fingers in fitzgerald's eyes, and the ref was not even going to give a yellow card. He asked the touch judge whether the penalty should be reversed on account account of the gouging the touch judge had to call him back to say that it should be "at least a yellow card"
wow. this game is on a different level. this is the real deal. this is why you felt so destroyed at the end of it.
Lawrence is reffing the game for him
the lions are a totally different side in this game.
absoloute bulllshiiit penalty at 50 minutes.
ironically, that hit from BOD where it left the SA forward falling about with grogginess, is what turned the game to SA. BOD had to go off leaving us with an unbalanced back line, and more importantly, the SA forward was replaced by Brossouw, who turned the game for SA.
BOD didn't play that well in either test tbh; he made a number of errors, and has certainly had many better games.
Anyway, BOD is a Lions legend, and im glad he's touring again this year.
Don't know why they bother going to Australia when it's not a rugby country, but still.
The guys I feel for are :
Shaw
OConnell (who looked physically sick)
Croft
Phillips
Jones
Roberts
ODriscoll
Bowe
Kearney
These guys gave every drop they had to the cause, and came away with nothing. Absoloutely gutted for them, and I hope some of them can find some solace on the tour this year.
i'd include Jamie Heaslip in that list as well.

Is this the weakest Lions squad in memory ?
