Next year your year again?

Him and Coutinho have been very good signings for Liverpool. Looks promising for next season.

Keeping hold of Suarez will be the key to your push for top 4.

Seriously tho, geting rid of sturridge and allowing torres and ba to take his place is just about as bad a piece of business since we let xabi go and wanted barry instead.

I've mentioned it a few times here today but once more cant hurt.

Torres 14 league goals for Chelsea in 2 1/2 years.

Sturridge.......

Flame....id stay quiet if I were you, it looks like a few of your players are leaving and rooney wants to leave while you have just employed a manager who has a 10yrtrack record in the prem of winning fk all!!!

Yes, Singing Flame, that's what everyone says every year about us apart from Liverpool fans.

Not really he was rubbish for Chelsea

Maybe there's something different for him at lpool, it doesn't always work for some players at some clubs.

Probably less expectation not playing for one of the top clubs is helping.

Still far too greedy though.

Stretty.... may have something to do with cfc playing him from the bench or out of position. I aso believe he knew he was always going to be 2nd fiddle to torres, no matter what form torres is in. In essence he wasnt appreciated at all, so he probably thought fk em then. Can you blame him?

I wouldn't say he was rubbish at Chelsea stretty. When AVB was manager and he was playing regularly he got about 10 goals in the 6 months AVB was there.

I think it's a combination of what both Stretty and GB are saying.

Whether this is the case is speculation, but it doesn't matter now as Liverpool are reaping the benefits of having them in their team.

He wasn't rubbish at Chelsea, taking a dim view.

????

Funny when folks can't back up many instances from this season to back this up at all.

The guy is a goal scorer and he has superb technique.

Should be starting for England ahead of Welbeck and Defoe.

posted on 12/5/13

I like welbeck but sturridge has proved he has more in his locker, great pace a very good finisher and the movement is excellent.

Be interesting to see England start with sturridge and welbeck.

Sturridge should be starting for England on current form.

posted on 12/5/13

As long as welbecks only remit is, like the Heskey of old, to flick it on, it could work.

posted on 12/5/13

Welbeck has scored 2 less for England despite only playing 16 games.

I remember Sturridge and Welbeck combining very nicely for the U21's a couple of years back.

It's never going to be up there with the very best in terms of quality, but it could be a very effective partnership, and may be the way forward for England. I think they complement each other well

posted on 12/5/13

Depends who he was playing against. Didnt he bag a few v San Marino... A team that is worse than division 1 teams!

posted on 12/5/13

One point tho, rooney does NOT deserve his England place. Heis living on past glories only roy the boy bodge wont leave him out.

posted on 12/5/13

Yes, 2 against San Marino. But also scored against Belgium and Sweden.

Heskey only scored 3 goals in competive football for England, Welbeck already has two and generally has played well for England so stop conparing him to that donkey Heskey.

Neo, Welbeck and Sturridge could work. It depends how we want to set up though. And what's happening with Rooney as well.

posted on 12/5/13

Ok, Heskey scoring 3 competitive goals for England and Welbeck scoring 2 means we can't compare them?

Think Heskey scored past Germany...if memory serves

posted on 12/5/13

Anyway they could complement each other, I think they know each others game, which is truly what is required from more of the England players.

Helps cohesion, playing as a team and winning!

posted on 12/5/13

That was a typo, Welbeck has scored 3 competive goals at the age of 22. Same amount as Heskey in his England career.

There's no comparison as Welbeck is scoring goals at a better rate than Heskey, has generally played well, and isn't a 'flick on' player which is all he offered.

That's why Welbeck has been playing for England as he's done quite well despite being crap for United. I'm not saying Welbeck is amazing but you're talking rubbish comparing him to Heskey.

Rooney should be cf anyway with Sturridge and one other bedside him.

He may have been crap for United this season by his high standards, but is still better than all England's strikers.

Agreed Darren.

Still feel that the main problem with the national side is Hodgson. He is just a tactical baboon, and right up there with McLaren as one of our worst managers. I just cannot believe the tactical ineptness he showed in the recent game against Montenegro, just extraordinary.
