Taylor seems to be a very overrated county poddler.i mean if your national selector picks ravinder singh over James Taylor ,then one can imagine how good mr.taylor is.
If your national selector picks Suresh Raina who cant play the short ball for toffee over Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma it just shows how good mr.kohli and mr.Sharma are.
I'm really shocked by his selection but looking at the the inclusion of Finn, it's possible to see another scenario. Their main plan is to play 5 bowlers, otherwise why include Finn as cover for Tremlett when Bresnan is already there.

I wonder if the selectors have forgotten this is a test match and have picked Bopara thinking it's ODI cricket.

The worst case scenario is that Bopara plays, scores just enough runs to keep him around for another 4 years.

Pretty harsh. Not sure it's either disgraceful or pathetic. Taylor was never going to get the call for this game it was always going to be Ravi. He's a very good player, Flower is not in the habit of picking players who can't play the game, or can't bat for toffee

average of 33 is not crap. not great sure, no doubting that, but crap ? no.
I rate flower very highly as a coach. he's taken this team from a not bad team to a potential world beater and number 1. he's done that by picking players he feels is talented. he's stuck with players people wanted out and they have come good. I back his judgement. If taylor is so great why does flower not pick him ?
Dolly, Bopara is not useless or pathetic but having played 10 tests and 59 ODI games if Flower really admires him, why is he an also ran when it comes to selection?
He's simply not good enough at the highest level and only gets these chances because there's no one else.

I agree that Flower is an excellent coach.Flower has got most things right but he hasnt ALWAYS been right.He is a human being and can make mistakes.
Remember Prior's selection for the WC?

fair point Hope. I just look at it the same way with taylor, if he is so good why is he not the next cab on the rank ? Flower always goes back to Bopara so he see's something there, and given his record as a coach i back him. Bopara's main problem to my mind is in his head.
Shanky i agree taylor is a very good player despite getting all his runs in div 2, no doubt he is good. But Flower can get things wrong of course, but not many times. I'd say his record of getting it right is better than his record of getting it wrong, so i back him 100% with this
I agree that he gets it right most of the times but I feel this is one of those rare occasions when he gets it wrong.
Well let's hope he has called this one right, i suppose only time will tell. It's a tough call either way be in Ravi or Taylor or any other batsmen waiting to come in. I hope i don;t eat my words but i think ravi will come good.
