Cisse will wear Wonga shirt

If we assume Cisse to be a truthful person and he really wasn't wearing the shirt on religious grounds then the way I see it there are only two possibilities....

A) He has decided to ignore what God wants to make his life easier

B) God came to him and told him it was okay to wear the Wonga shirt.

Honestly, what has this got to do with Man Utd?

OAF he explained in the OP that the Newcastle board is deserted so he tagged it here as well.

It's OOF. But why here? Why not another board. I don't see the debate in this topic. He's his own man and can choose to do as he pleases.

I bet Pappis didn't fancy paying the fines imposed on him and caved in

It also could be they worked it out that some part of his payment or something that he would have received from Wonga goes to charity. It is still not acceptable but I guess it is a comprimise. Either that or he was just playing the 'Pious/Moral' card.

As a Muslim I am disappointed in his stance, as he came out with it compared to the other Muslim players in the Newcastle team.

This also opens up the question if any Muslim fan of Newcastle will buy the current shirts with Wonga on it. I'll leave Andy to answer that.

OOF - Why not?
I'm a United fan, this board gets more hits than the others and the Liverpool/Arsenal/Tottenham board seem to be a p!ssing match right now. That would leave Chelsea board, and they don't have as many people as us. The City board only has like 4 users I think...

I am sorry but how can you make such a stance about your religion but at the same time go against your religion. you can't cherry pick the sins you want and don't want to commit. no one is perfect, however, if you follow a particular school of thought, you should not act as an example if your knowledge and actions don't befit it.

Would he have worn a shirt with Newcastle Brown Ale on it? If so, why?

Serious question(s).

I think he would.

He got embarassed and outed with that picture of him in the casino and now knows he looks like an idiot doing one thing for his religion but doing another thing going against it so he obviously knows his lost his point of view because of the casino

He had a bet with Joe Kinnear that he wouldn't wear the shirt. When the wise man that is Joe Kinnear pointed out that, by placing a bet, Cisse had gone against his religion, the striker was left with little choice but to back down.

I actually can see his reasoning. I think that Wonga is a particularly vile company with the way they ruthlessly prey on people in difficult financial situations and are effectively a legitimate loan shark. Suppose it had been Nationwide that had sponsored Newcastle. I don't think that would have be so much of a problem to him.

I think everyone has the right to practice their religion as they see fit and Cisse could quite easily have had a moral objection to Wonga, however not felt as strongly about gambling in a casino.

Rusty6899 (U7079) - apparently he visits but doesn't gamble at the casino. Which if true would be odd.

What's the point in him going in to a casino and not gambling? It's like taking your own sandwiches into KFC - makes no sense!

He didn't have a leg to stand on really after being pictured in a casino.

Remember when Andy Carrol was injured cause he fell off a stool in a casino? He really didn't have a leg to stand on.

As we've seen in the past and will no doubt see again in the future football is no place for morals.

As for non-United based articles on the United page, i consider myself to be a football fan and will hapilly discuss all aspects of the game with anyone. People who only care about United and nothing else concerning football i find strange, why limit your intrest to just one team?

=================================
But he didn't state it that way did he? He made a big deal out of it being because of his religious beliefs, not just a 'moral objection'.

He then proceeded to do something that very much contradicts his religious beliefs.

Okay, he's done nothing illegal but it makes him look a hypocritical moron.

There is also a pretty strong argument that Casinos are just as harmful to society as a short term loan deal.

In the majority of cases short term loans probably help people using them. In the majority of casino visits, the house wins. It could be be argued that Casinos prey on an addiction as well.

I'm sorry but did I miss something, but don't ALL religious people pick and choose the tenets of their religions based on their individual morality?

If a Catholic has intercourse before does that mean he/she forfeits the right to condemn adultery and prostitution?
If a Jew eats pork does that mean he cannot campaign against the causes of obesity?
If a Muslim drinks has he no right to work against the proliferation of heroine?

Frankly those that say Cisse's gambling makes him a hypocrite are bigoted, whether they realise it or not, because he's only as hypocritical as everyone else.
Gamboling ans usury are completely different; one seeks to separate a fool and his money, whereas the other makes financial slaves or forces homelessness on the already poor and desperate. I know which I think is the greater evil.

I support Cisse in his objection to Wonga and frankly the media that have condemned him are in the latter's pocket. Furthermore I fear that they have turned the public against Cisse so easily is a portrayal of the latent Islamophobia so prevalent throughout our society x

^EDIT should read "If a Catholic has intercourse before MARRIAGE does that mean he/she forfeits the right to condemn adultery and prostitution?"
ALSO should read "heroin" the drug not a female super hero x
