We played a Man United type game. The win was ground out. Despite giving the ball away many times - too many times - we hung on. Not nice to watch,but I will take the any day.clean sheet and three points.

I dont have worries against man united, because we always more motivated against them than against the lower sides.

Mignolet has arguably saved us four points. I thought we played well for 40 minutes first half and Villa played well the rest. I like our style though, less hoofing now we have the players to pass an move.

GB - comment on Reina is just silly, you don't just drop world class players because of a dip so if you have been saying this for years that just moronic, I admit he was not at his best but he was loyal to us and we were to him. I still love Pepe but the time for change had come. In all honesty he wasn't actually that bad last year and we have timed our change right in my opinion

1st half great especially up until the goal, second half poor. Aspas is another Borini in my opinion, Cissoko is a headless chicken...........I appreciate I am being harsh but I know a good player when I see one

I agree GB, it's great to see us winning when not playing well. The game of two halfs cliche is valid on today's performance. We were very composed in the first half, passed it well, and scored a good goal. In the second half we had to dig in, Villa upped there game, but we were rushed into making mistakes and were and were pretty woeful picking up the second ball. However a win is a win so we've got to be happy.

As for your reina comment. I'm betting that 2 seasons you may have been singing a different tune on one of your many player comparison posts, but I can't be arsenaled looking.

The 2nd half as Jimmy said is what Utd would do and come away with the points. We played too well in the first half to have "won ugly" as far as I'm concerned. "nd in the league will do !

I thought he looked solid and showed a good turn of pace. Hoping that he starts the league cup game at left back to get more of an opinion of him.

It appeared to me a that Cissoko wasn't entirely match fit.

Too early for my liking downwith. On the bench again, for the ManU game. Look at our last disastrous run-out in that competition. We cannot afford a repeat of that.
