sounds like another jonas! Should fit in well with the other 4 french guys brought in. Probably not start every game but if he can do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pAxXxTPaSw a bit more often we could have a good quality player. Also think it's interesting fergie said he would've kept him but obertan wanted to leave. Do you think he's just being nice or really means it?

I think there was a game last season where Obertan played one of the worst games i've ever seen any player play and it was against Crawley Town !!

After that game Obertan didn't play again for Utd for rest of season from what i can remember.

So yes i think Fergie was being kind and i wouldn't get your hopes up cos he is a complete inigma !!

To be honest though the guy does have some unreal talent, he just needs to sort himself out.

He "could" be brilliant and has actually had decent pre-season for us.

But i expect you'll be frustrated more than delighted

Obertan is going staright in the dream team if he starts regularly for newcastle

Sounds like a massive hit and miss player. I think he'll probably do better here than at OT, as he'll have less expectations and more Frenchies around him to settle him down. Hopefully he'll end up being more hit than miss

Obertan is actually a player with great ability. What he severely lacks is mental strength.

Just a heads up to you Toon Fans - captain Positivity (formerly Captain Negativity - a more fitting name) is a notorious stirrer, and WUM on the MUFC board.
Obertan can indeed be frustrating at times (tell me of a winger who isn't) mainly 'cos his feet sometimes move faster than his brain (or vice versa) but there is no doubting he has innate talent and incredible speed.
Of course he is not the finished article, but I have no doubt that playing more regularly will improve him.
I am not the only person who is a little sorry to see him go, for he is one of those types of player who can give a heightened sense of anticipation to the crowd when he receives the ball.
