why did barca buy fabregas ?

anyone with a brain knows scholes was the better of the 3.

why did he play left wing? because lampard and gerrard couldnt and we had no better options, scholes was a fantastic player.
use to be a striker too, even just before he retired he could ping balls around with pin point accuracy. accuracy that gerrard could only dream of.

i watched gerrard tonight and the amount of times he just freely gives away possession if absolutely fking disgraceful, to compare gerrard and scholes is an insult

Scholes is by some distance the best midfielder of the PL era and one of the top 3 since the start of the champions league. You just have to watch him play, no brainer seriously. I'd sooner have Scholes just after he came out of retirement than either of Gerrard or Lamport now.

Maybe he ranked them in reverse order, that would have made sense.

Lampard *

Gerrard and Lampard were both quality players but they weren't quite up to Scholes level.

Scholes got shoved out to the left wing because he was the only one capable of influencing a game from there! Unlike lampard and his shoot-on-sight, hope-for-a-deflection policy, and gerrard and his shocking back passes. It's clear for all to see that gerrard really is shelvey's idol

It doesn't make him a moron, that was just his opinion and he's entitled to it. I've seen all three of them give wonderful performances for their clubs.

Would I have the same order as him? No, I wouldn't, I would have Lampard third and put Scholes first technically. I don't begrudge him it though, I enjoyed a couple of Gerrards performances more than any other.

Melton, i think people are most outraged by his reasoning. If he said "Gerrard, Lampard, Scholes" and then backed up that order with reasonable points then people wouldn't be so bothered.

But to put Scholes bottom and rationalise it thus:

"Why did he play on the left for England?" and "Why did Sir Alex buy Veron?"

is moronic.

Oh yeah, he then proceeded to completely undermine his argument by saying that everyone he speaks to says Scholes is the best player they've ever played/trained with.

Ah ok, I'm assuming this isn't the newspaper article he wrote about them then, did they have a conversation about it tonight?

The article I didn't have much problem with, if it was something tonight then I can't comment as I didn't hear it, apologies!

Melton, here's the debate mate from tonight. That's what the OP is about

Yeah him and Gary having a right go at each other about it. Gary Neville looked astonished at what he was hearing. There's a picture of his reaction doing the rounds actually.

Yep, just listened to it. They seem to be arguing different points to be honest, the best thing said was Neville saying they shouldn't be compared though, that is completely right. I would rank them differently each time depending on the criteria as well.
