There's the same excitement but our team has more humility and discipline. I can't believe how much this squad has improved, Wenger at his finest.

if we keep up this $exy football Theo will run riot, he gives a different option and his pace scares teams. With Ozil, Ramsey, Santi, Jack feeding him he will score a lot.

Clichy got the ball though on the Birmingham game not his fault the ref gave a phantom pen.

Completely agree, better defence and better defensively as a team would be the only difference like OP pointed out.
Agree about clichy, there was just that 1 mistake apart from that that was his best season for us. If only I could go back in time and somehow prevent gallas from ever joining us.

It's easy not to get carried away. We should have won the league that season and should have gone further in the CL and through no fault of our own, we didn't. I prefer to take 1 game at a time, a costly defeat could cause a poor run of form and questions will be asked again.

Flamini was in that team then he left. Joins again and we look good again. Co incidence? Think not.

it's the 07/08 team + some mental strength.

The problem with the 07/08 team was a serious lack of experience combined with disrupting influences like Gallas and Adebayor.

While I would take Hleb, Fabregas and Flamini from that team, none of the rest would make it and that team has been our best in the barren run.

Yeah I much prefer this current team,what I meant more was the momentum we built up first half of the season and the way we just looked superior to all the other teams.

In 07/08 we never really looked too comfortable. There were far too many late goals and indifferent performances.

The team was quality (only lost 3 times all season) but there were issues with it. Adebayor missed too many sitters in important matches and Gallas/Toure/Senderos were awful as defenders.

The midfield used to bail us out too much.

This team looks a lot more solid and composed

there's a few differences from the 07/08 season compared to now

- much more experience with the likes of sagna Mertesacker arteta flamini ozil Cazorla podolski all relatively experienced compared to gallas toure Gilberto and that was about it

- British core with gibbs jenkinson ramsey Wilshere Walcott all consistently in the first team. we only had theo back then who was a bench warmer and i really think British core in a team makes a big difference

- like a poster mentioned, there isn't anybody who is a liability in the current team.

- no big egos ie gallas adebayor
