no-ones denying what he brings to the team

the main point in 3 massive matches hes let us down this season

ive went from 1 of his biggest critics to 1 of his biggest fans

all this nonsense about being stripped of the captaincy is ludicrous

"He isn't the most gifted player in the side. His passing can be wayward. He doesn't score a lot of goals."

4.4m well spent .

Karagandy with the stamp

Milan with Balotelli

and this

If Ambrose did that everyone would be shouting and bawling at him and justifiably so.

The people that were slaughtering Ambrose against Juve' haven't showed the same consistency with Brown, and Brown's is worse because Ambrose's mistakes were awful but the manager didn't have to play him so soon after the African Cup of Nations.

Some criticism has been way OTT imo. Like his style of play and his commitment. He just needs to cut out the silly stuff. Love to see him playing for Scotland.

As ghod says, its the frequency now, we scored a lastt minute goal v karagandy, would we have with 10 men? Who knows.

He doubles up on players and supports our fullbacks particularly when they press forward. I like his attributes as a team player and we could with more players with his drive and determination, but he needs to calm it

Sorry Ghod but he's a combatitive midfielder. What happened against Milan and Kargandy is just part of the game.

Van Dijk gave away a daft foul against Killie that cost us a goal. These thing happen and I think we're over analysing at times.

Unlike some others - he plays equally as well for his Country as he does his club.

He does look like a shark though, or one of those fish headed creatures from Atlantis..

Ambrose must feel sick.

I don't see that Commons slaughtering Brown in the Press, the way he did with Efe?

Captains lead by example, and sadly Brown doesn't.

Think ambrose was out most composed player with a ball at his feet the other night

Also, i think commons slows us down in europe, hes just so slow

It's just hypocrisy mate.

I was as critical of Ambrose as anyone, but near enough all our fans slaughtered him after Juve', and never make a case for his good attributes, yet with Brown everyone is sticking up for him. Blatant double-standards.

What i hated about ambrose after juve was how many ppl said "iv been saying it for ages"

I cant remember him doing much wrong prior to that

Brown is like your old car, you might as well keep it as you'll never get anything better for the money.

I'm sure if he was available now we wouldn't buy him.
But I'm not sure we could replace him with much better.

I understand about Brown's qualities and they are important..but being captain means he starts nearly game and i think that's a problem. Apart from the really top guys a midfield player either needs to either be a defensive specialist or a guy who can be creative and chip in with goals.
Juse being able to run aboot quite fast and bump intae folk might no be enough for the Champions League.

Some players make a team better by their prescene alone

He has been better over the last 8 months or so and that is down IMO to him playing healthy, stupid acts aside I would have him in my team, I wonder how many of us would be the same when we lost a wee bit of control?

I know I still lose my temper on occasion even when playing 5s with my boys and their mates

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

I would miss so someone with better eyesight should really do the stone throwing bit

Our central midfield used to be class:

Ledley
Brown (fully fit)
Kayal (fully fit and in form)
Big Vic
Ki

Now we have:

Kayal (sh.it)
Brown ()
Mulgrew.
Ledley (Injury-prone)
Rogic (untested and too lightweight just now)

Ambrose gets a harder time because he's black.

posted on 3/10/13

That's a ludicrous thing to say.

Ambrose got a harder time because he has this trait of trying to take players on when he should not be. Brown is club captain, and I find the double standards shocking to be honest, but that's the reason he gets away with less criticism than Ambrose.
