When people talk about Maradona at napoli I picture that it's pretty similar to Messi with Valverde's barca

Ah, right.

In that case, I'd say Messi probably depend on Messi more. Maradona would've had to have a more cohesive unit behind him to win that league, no matter who led you.

The playing field has just tipped so much towards the big teams nowadays that the differences between them and the rest is far, far greater than it used to be. The top talent is hogged by a much smaller number of teams. That's why Barsa will still win a lot of games without Messi, not because they're really much good.

Back then, a team as disjointed as Barsa have been recently wouldn't have stood a chance without a Messi or Maradona in Serie A. They probably wouldn't have with one of them either.

What a miss Mallorca. Ref gives a penalty though, second of the game Villarreal have conceded. VAR will check it out.
