Aye I always try to, Red.
I dont even know the correct pronunciation, havent been to a match in years and the tv presenters and commentators seem have different ways of saying it
Pronounce it 'Jam Arl La Sells'
Pronounce it I'm a steaming pile of poo
Cstander, you omitted the full stop after the first two words.
Were I Lascelles I would change my name. His ancestors were given the name because they were owned by a family of slave traders and plantation owners, the Lascelles family. These were one of the most corrupt and cruel of the slave traders but the head of the family managed to escape prison for his corruption by becoming am MP! They became fabulously wealthy and built amongst other things Harewood House near Leeds. This bunch of crooks descendants are now related to the queen. Jamaal should go to Harewood House and demand some of the treasures bought with the blood of his ancestors.

Awful story if true. But where does that stop? As a man who's roots are very working class do I deserve money that the rich no doubt made from the labour of my ancestors?
The answer to that is obviously no. Many awful things happened in the past. But just because they happened to people that share your NDA doesn't mean you're entitled to anything.
I'm not saying the labours of the old school working class were like slavery. Of course not. But JL will go on to be a millionaire, loved by 1000s. His family for the next few generations at least will be well off. Not sure he deserves owt because if what happened to people he never met.
This is a post pub, possibility wrongly judged post. But as they say on twitter. #justsaying
Don't worry Sutton. Spartacus is talking carp as usual.
You want to bet on that SHH. Whether Jamaal is a descendant of a slave owned by the Lascelles is not known but is a reasonable assumption as slaves often were given the same surnames as their owners. Hence why there are so many Afro Caribbeans called Beckford.

That is the trouble with people who don't know much. They think everyone is as ignorant as them.
Spart.
The names slaves were given isn't really the issue. As awful as past crimes were. The issue is how best to move on and encourage an inclusive and equal society. You seem to promote hatred, division and revenge based on things no one alive did.
If we are telling sections of society they are/were hated by the country/culture they grew up in there will always be divisions. This helps no one.
Also some people with certain agendas stopped history at a convenient point. Many or most, maybe every people or country were shat on by another at some point
Wow I find myself agreeing with Sutton
Yeah... stop living in the past......
You won't find Forest fans doing that
Have you noticed that Rev creates an article..doesn't like the way its heading...so closes it ....oh dear.
Maybe it's you that cannot post on his threads
I wasn't doubting that Spart. But in claiming somebody you don't know should change their name, you're talking carp.
I think a revolution is required to claim back our land
36,000 individuals, only 0.6 per cent of the population – own 50 per cent of rural land in the UK.
Give it back!
You're probably filtered Backo and that's why you can't post. It's a shame really as I am sure his threads are weaker without your input
"You won't find Forest fans doing that"
Anyone who has experienced success but declined over the years will do that somewhat. It's more highlighted with us because fans of teams that have less to look back on point it out. Even though they do actually do the same with their slim pickings
I've been to Europe ...HE won the cup twice
I won't stop until I'm dead
I don't see why we shouldn't mention it from time to time Webbo, I am proud of the two as well as the things I saw us achieve first hand in the late 80's early 90's. Even our UEFA cup run mid 90's where we reached the quarters.
Funny thing is though you see a lot of other fans bringing it up, then making the living in the past jibe. Also some who have things listed about their past over their profiles, even suggest the same.
Cheers lads. Wondered why. I wouldn't know you see as Ive never got into filtering or being mardy.
Up to the individual Backo, he may have had reasons. We've all seen it where continual threads just go back to the same comments, arguments and/or discussion. You lot can be really disruptive at times
One of your lot is particularly bad for filtering lots of rival fans then posting what some may generously call banter where a good chunk of the rivals can't respond
