Is it just me or does anyone else think Giggs is holding the younger players back? As good as he is he wont be here forever and he needs to give younger players a chance

Ferdinand??

Shakhtar very pacy, Fedinand's nightmare team really

How come we come in second if Shakthar win this match? Is it head to head rather than goal difference?

It's head to head.

If we avoid defeat tonight, we progress to the knockout stages undefeated.

Not bad for a manager with no European experience.

Oh gotcha. Thanks. Well hell, just draw the game.

Kagawa and Januzaj's first time starting together.

Excited in that respect.

Defensively however, I'm worried.

Giggs and Jones, our most in form midfielders

Januzaj

Kagawa (in Europe)

Hopefully we'll see some decent football tonight.

We are much more enjoyable to watch in Europe this season.

Shame we probably won't quality for Europe next season

Wonder if we can have a coach for domestic ties and keep Moyes for Europe?

Revolution not evolution.

Here's to me hoping that Kagawa does not excel simply because Giggs was on the pitch last time we was in the Champions League. If he does again, I'm going to have to start praying to see Giggs on the sheet so Kagawa can be affective.

Or Anderson? Both get forward with the ball quickly.

Dear lord DP, such a huge match thread.

Why cant anyone create a short, slick match thread which you dont have to scroll down everytime

Why if it's head to head am I reading on UEFA's own website that it goes by points total and then goal difference?

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches,
the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in descending
order):
a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the
teams in question;
b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams
in question;

That's what you need though, someone to go forward with the ball, keep it on the ground and see the space he creates.

For me though, we either start learning to play his style or get rid. I like the player and want him to succeed with us, but if a team like Dortmund would take him, it's disgusting we can't appreciate him. [Seeing as we always want their players]

I was hoping to just write:

However, some people want the full works on these things!

Yes. Would do for me. I doubt anyone is interested in the match preview and previous records, manager words and all that stuff.

Next time I'll think of you Wayne! Predictions for tonight after seeing the line-up?

1-1

I have a feeling Young will be immense tonight. He always looks better when he has players like Kagawa and Januzaj around him who he can interchange with.

Points total between the teams, that's head to head, TRS.

Shaktar would have 4 points to our 1.
