Probably one of the best decisions the club has made.
All suarez wanted was cl footy, same as torres, Gerrard et al; gerrard won it, torres missed out (I hold no grudges) and suarez wanted out, lfc I believe and apparently so does suarez think lfc can provide it......im happy
Would someone want to pay it? Maybe not, in which case we're all happy as we don't want to lose him as a player.
Look what happened to Arsenal when they got as much money as they could for van Persie (sold to a rival), or Spurs getting as much money as they could for Bale.
If this is true, then this is the perfect result.
By standing firm and not selling him in the summer, then tying him down for his best years with a clause inserted that makes any potential suitor having to pay around a world record transfer fee for him, the owners and the club have played an absolute blinder.
I wonder what Geoff will say?
Arsenal were diks, allowing a premium player to run down his contract . Spurs, well tbh they have bought decent players but as I heard one commentator say, " They have improved the squad but not necessarily the team"
Fair Play, FSG and Brendan have managed this one well. You are in a win/win position.
With your midfield now looking better I would put you as a bloody good chance for second place(City to win EPL)
With a bit of luck we might get CL too. Imagine that!
Dai....wouldnt mind Everton getting cl, Merseyside on top eh!! However, if i was a Everton supporter then I may be concerned that 3 of jy best players are on loan...lukaku..barry..delfonsou.
Its worth thinking about! Look what happened to w brom when they lost lukaku? ??
Geoff will say something about Suarez's release clause not being fair value compared to recent transfer fees with some FFP bull thrown in there too. Which will ensure a plethora of re-tweets from 14 yr old wannabe sports lawyers and commercial lawyers... both with and without tanks.

P.issed myself with last night's one liner. I will borrow that one for the pub.
My glass is half full with Martinez's policy at the moment. I don't think we'l lose all three but we are now in a position to attract other potential and experiece.
I think the catalyst in all this is Rodgers, stood firm and unlike Kenny didn't fawn all over him with silly t-shirts, but in the time he was banned Brendan showed him to be a manager on the up with a club going in the right direction where he could/has become the focal point and is winning over the so called haters who see that he just really enjoys football and it's what he does best.
Turned me for sure especially after the World Cup and hate to see him leave English football.
A joy
I know which one liner ur talking about . I don't treat this forum as spot on 100% btw....can u guess .
On Everton, tbh I can't see u attracting top players unless u get top 4 PLUS investment. With lfc, city, arsenal, utd, cfc etc its going to be fkn hard mate...fair Play, ur making a good fist of it.
I see no reason why Everton cant strengthen the team next year. Martinez has a eye for creative quality players.
I rate him very high and like BR has a positive attitude to the game and give young players a chance.
John Cross will be frothing at the mouth.
Anyone that doubted Martinez is a fool.

Totally agree with BR standing firm. When you think about it, as a relatively inexperienced manager, certainly at a big club, he made one of the best players in the world go and train with the youth team until he apologised!
Really strong and it's paying dividends. BR is certainly going the right way towards really proving himself this year.

And to think Arsenal ended up paying more for Ozil than they were prepared to for Suarez
£55m wouldn't have touched the sides, at the time, 40m+1 shows just what a cheeky b'stard wenger was/is. The writing was on the wall when Brendan said he thought Suarez price was around what bale sold for. This is for a guy who hasn't played a full season since he's been here, would've been top scorer last season, will be this season even with 5 games missed.
£100-130m is about right, fair compensation for what he means to us as a club.
Everton strengthening remains to be seen, depends if they're willing to spend any money on some real deals.
I dare say if Arsenal had offered £55m he'd have been on his way, as it stands even if they doubled that now it wouldn't be enough.

Because of 13 games? Don't be so ridiculous.
Anywho, the bid was derisory and frankly, I knew from the start we didn't have a chance of getting him, especially with the feeble bid we put in, don't really know what the club were thinking. But I don't see why you guys are still bringing it up all the time. Your best player didn't leave to a rival team and you are reaping the benefits of that. Well done. But you don't need to keep bringing up Arsenal's pathetic attempts of acquiring the player so frequently.
Just move on from the whole saga because it's done and dusted.
Clearly suarez having a new contract and the reported release clause mean we're going to discuss it and any past bids made on him, you know, the kind of thing you discuss with other fans of your club etc.
I'm sorry... But it's funny to laugh at the users who changed to have Suarez in it.
No English club can afford him it would appear

Really?
I don't think Arsenal made 'a derisory offer', they thought he had a £40m release clause and tried to activate it. Any club would have done the same if they received the same (wrong) information.

To think, someone offered £40m + £1..
