Balancing the squad

This is quite a good point to make. The title really stands out as to what Spurs need, all the context of the article tells me is the strongest/weakest areas of the team.

The balance is about finding the right team to play in this 4-4-2 system you want to play. Not about strongest/weakest players. Obviously, with the amount of attacking minded midfielders, it's tough to play as you need wingers that track back.

You need wide midfielders preferably. Which only Lennon is for me. It's not a balanced squad as your likely to play any of Dembele, Capoue, Paulinho or Sandro every week. None of your attacking talent will get a chance really. Unless you chance your luck with 3 midfielders tracking back.

Our recent list of around 10 players missing injured proves that we should not be really letting anybody go, problems yes when everybody is fit but we need a big squad.

I would sell Livermore and replace Defoe, then we should be well set squad wise.

and Rose does my head in.

In fact, he may be my least favourite player.

Wasn't that Holtby yesterday?

Just kidding....

I just cant see why we would buy a LB when we have 2 in the squad and 1 on loan.

Admittedly, it doesnt look like BAE will play in a Spurs shirt ever again but adding a 3rd left back to the squad, when we also have Verts (although not a fan of him at LB) and Naughton (...not the greatest i agree) who can fill in if need be.

The money is better spent elsewhere. One player i would love to get in is Micah Richards. He is an absolute beast at CB and RB. He would be worth £8m of anyone's money.... ..then again, we also have other options at RB, Walker, Naughton, Kaboul (when fit) so maybe not.

Richards seems to be injured just as much as Kaboul these days fella.

have to go with Rose being my least popular first teamer at the moment

he gives the ball away too much..trying to ping the ones benny did...he hit his target 9 times out of 10 (benny did that is)

he must have done someting very bad (ref LLM) for Sherwood not to bring him back

we need a Left back this window and i would be happy

holtby is nowhere near my least favourite player. i like players who put in 100% and am more lenient on lack of ability if they show willing.

however holtby's energy is misused - goes around committing silly fouls.. gets booked all the time, poor in the tackle, and very little quality on the ball, sadly.

or at least thats all he has shown us

4 yellow cards for the number of minutes he has played isn't great. must result in a booking every three games or something… thats not good at all for an attacking mid really.

I dont think 4 is many at all, not for a busy midfielder. And as Heиgy says, Eriksen has got 3 in far fewer games.

Holtby is a decent player and his energy is a positive - not a negative.

He can also score goals too, including the winner against Fulham after coming on as a sub. And for the record, he didnt get booked in that game.
