Jose sets out a winning team, he's a good player but doesn't fit in the team.
And he's had plenty of chances to show his worth and he's failed.. He'll get more, but personally I know we're a better TEAM without him.

Yes, we are winning matches consistently but the performance level is appalling.
Haven't seen us play well as a team (aside from the Liverpool match). Just grinding results(which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but don't make out as if we are performing as good as we can with that team(without Juan).

Oscar was terrible against United, almost every touch he had gave the ball away and the match was devoid of tempo/intensity + any meaningful creativity in open play(dire encounter on the whole).
So of course people would want Mata to come on.

The difference between Mata and Oscar in IMO defensively speaking is pace and tackling...
Mata tracks back just as much as Oscar and will either try and nick the ball off the opponent of at least make him check back....
But Oscar does like a tackle and is quite good at it, he also has a bit more pace than Mata that helps too...
If Mata can gain confidence enough to make some tackles then for me he will become Jose's preferred choice over Oscar, because he def offers more creativity

For your information, I was at the bridge and from what I saw...aside from Oscar's brilliant defensive work rate, was truly dreadful offensively. Or maybe his defensive work rate is how you define "overall play".
Pace is definitely an attribute which Mata lacks, that for me seems like a reason Jose wouldn't start him but still that is a minor flaw which doesn't warrant him not starting or even coming off the bench, when Oscar was atrocious.
Oscar althouth being a part of the front 3 that has been on a good run so far is definitely performing the worst out of himself Hazard and Willian.. Maybe, just maybe, Mourinho will bring in Mata for Oscar and we could see Mata displace Oscar as I agree with cmf. He does bring a lot more to the table on the ball. He's a cool head on the ball. His accurate weighting of passes is something that not everybody has but then again. Jose's comments about Oscar being his no10 at the start of the season make me think Mata has little chance of displacing Oscar regardless of how bad Oscar plays. The only play up for grabs was that right side spot and it looks like Willian has got that.

Yes agree he could change his mind... I just dont see it though. The Mata issue is a far larger one that the Luiz midfield issue and Cole's form although not atrocious but not good enough maybe put his place in jeopardy anyway.

Well that's how he was used last season more or less and then we had two banks of 4 behind the front two....Jose said that was oo defensive a style of football nad that he had agreed with Roman to move away from that style of football..

Cmf - it's unfair to pick Oscar out when most of the team played poorly against Manchester United. Willian, Luiz, Ramires and our full backs were very poor. It was actually a very poor performance from us. Didn't really create much, luckily we took the few chances we got.

Although we have mikel who is good for ball retention, his decicion making with the passing back all the time is awful!
Matic is much better at making the tackle and starting an attack strait away.
