Sagna to extend his contract

3 years is too long. Next year will probably be his last good year.

It isn't 3 years though is it?
Next season will see Hectorinho continue his development, then he can be brought in to replace Bacs the season after.
An extra 2 seasons of Bacs is perfect.

great news.

fans moan about contracts and having players run them down etc, yet when this is reported a fan says its too long!

you can please some of the people some of the time..

Ignore the first comment, the idiot wanted Jenkinson to be our no1 RB last season.

Sagna is a good, intelligent player. Hector will take the no 1 RB spot in a couple seasons too I think, but by then Sagna will be a CB I think.

It's great to see Sagna back to something like his usual, reliable self!

Last season was something of a skidmark on the to the otherwise pristine white linen that has been his career. I think a culmination of (fairly) serious injuries, sustained within a relatively short space of each-other contributed heavily to this unfortunate scenario.

I too am very excited about the young Cockney Spaniard Bellerin! Apparently he's already highly regarded at Watford where he's going great guns on his current loan-spell.

He's doing OK, nothing more! Still getting used to the league I think, plus he missed a couple of matches when the new manager took over and also missed the game vs City as we haven't given him permission to play in FA Cup.

Hopefully will kick on from now though!

This is a rare opportunity for Wenger and Arsenal to win something. All you need is to make it high priority to get a strike to help Giroud with these 4days left of the winter transfer!

City has got moment and even with a better striker you will still struggle to shake them off. If you don't you will rue it come the end of the season when you finish with nothing. Personally, i rather you guys win it than Chelsea or City but delusion usually gets in the way for you lot.

Wow! that's some huge title-winning boost - sagna extends.

Very popular in the dressing room apparently. With his impish ways and practical jokes. He's also ploughed his ways through quite a lot of sixth-form girls in the Hertfordshire area, so it would seem.

Anybody got any idea what Moyes Boys is ranting about?

As far as I can work out he thinks we should let our players contracts run down as it doesn't boost team morale when they sign extensions.

This is good news. Or at least would seem to be.

Blah, blah, blah... when it's on Arsenal.com etc.

Think you've got it spot on DJ

An extension is good as signing a new player will probably spell the end for Jenkinson or he'll be played and not be quite ready.
Hopefully Jenks will start to take a bit of game time from Sagna next season (if he signs).

I'm of the mind that Jenkinson would benefit massively from at least 6 months (ideally a full season) on-loan at another Premier League club.

He's got some very impressive assets, but a couple of fundamental flaws to his game, namely positioning & a tendency to go to pieces if & when he makes a mistake.

An extended run at Prem level, not just a handful of games, but being 1st-choice somewhere, will not only develop the player, but give a much clearer indication of the lad's potential ability to be a "top level" Premier League player.

It might not be 3 season as RB. He is losing his speed and I can see him being move centrally from next season

Looks like it could be a straight balls out battle between Hector and Jenko to earn the right to succeed Bacs.

Jenks looks to be in pole position atm, however, if come the start of season 2015/16 neither look particularly 'top quality' it'll be cheque book time again.

Gentlemen, place your bets.

Great news if true!

Jenks should not be loaned out though and it is definitely not the end of him.

We have two good left backs and two good right backs. Why would we want to loan one out?

Peace

Hi Chamakh mate!

Fairplay on your opinion. I like Jenks, both as a player and a bloke. But (imo) as I've stated, he does have a couple of flaws that blight his game a tad. Hopefully he can iron these creases out of his game. But I can't see him doing that unless he is starting games regularly. Of course whilst Sagna is in front of him, his opportunities will be fairly limited.

If he managed to get himself a loan to a fellow Prem club, the experience would do him the world of good and (again, like I say) it'd be a very good gauge of seeing IF he's going to be at the level of a "top" Premier League fullback, which is what Arsenal need.

Hi my Moistness!

I hear what you are saying but you just know that as soon as he goes out on loan Sagna will get an injury. We really can't afford to have less than two seniors in that position.

As far as Jenks improving, surely being the understudy of Sagna is a good thing? He will get games, just has to be patient! Also I would say that being with the Arsenal team is a benefit at the moment. There is a lot of quality to learn from!

Good for both side if true. Sagna has abt 2 years left in him. Wouldn't have agreed with 3 seasons that he was asking for.

I think no Walcott has helped Sagna too. He tends to get a bitof help defensively down the riht from Gnabry, Wislhere etc. Walcott, not so much.

Personally, I think we'll start to see more of Sagna at CB over the next year or 2, allowing Jenkinson more games at RB.
Not just starting either, 20 mins left, 3 - 0 up, off comes a CB, on comes Jenkinson and Sagna switches to CB.
