After a world T20 the last thing you want is the same format for 8 weeks with no other cricket up until England play SL. I've stayed well clear from ITV4 and crixinfo.

High pee hell

A tournament full of retired folks, mixed with about 5/6 very good players and the rest indian street players- no thanks... And that's not including the betting that goes in (as proven in court case), the cheats, the lies and the scams from the very highest personnels within Indian cricket... It's a farce tournament and a fraud. I'm looking forward to tht courts verdict in 3 weeks..

I'm glad my Saturday league cricket starts today.. Promoted last year, so got a battle on this year.. Much more entertaining than what itv4 has to offer.

20/20 can f-ck right off. I don't even think of it as cricket.

Not really watching it, may flick over and if a decent players at the crease, watch a couple of overs. That's about it.

That league is riddled with dodgy bets and scams..it really can't be taken seriously until that's been addressed.

Mind you players are in it for the money too...not really to develop as a cricketer. Scoring a decent amount of runs is nothing more than a bigger contract next year.

All in all, it's good to see cricket on TV a lot more, just wish it wasn't this format

Complete farce of a competition. Even as an Indian the IPL I just don't watch as T20 isn't bad entertainment wise but it lacks the soul of test cricket.

Also the way cricket is run in India is a joke to say the least with money being the ultimatum and nothing else really mattering. We as Indians love to take the high ground thinking foreign players come to India to enjoy everything about the IPL and praise us. What we fail to understand is that they come because of the pay packet we offer them. Combined with it's over the top marketing and commentary, ridiculous scandals and its running even I would recommend giving it a miss. The BCCI don't give a dam about the average Indian supporter so they shouldn't give two dams either.

Whether it is something we as individuals enjoy or not, it is something that attracts a large global audience in a format that is more accessible than the stereotyped game that lasts for 5 days with no result. This could lead to more people being interested to the avenues of 50 over and then test cricket.

Yes it's had corruption problems, but so has international and county cricket, and is not just an ipl problem but a world cricket problem that must be addressed. Regardless of how we might view cricket with disdain or not I believe any cricket is good cricket and I'll just as happily celebrate Warwickshire decimate Notts as I will watching Kohli and De Villiers bat together for RCB. Just because we may not prefer a format or a tournament doesn't mean we should condemn it for the masses. We'd end up with a dwindling sport that nobody will be left to enjoy.

Yeh, that's all very well and good except that T20 is just going to become more and more popular. This is because it removes all the boring bits from the game that people who don't like cricket don't want to watch, you know, the cricket.

It's just creating a class of "cricket fan" who only watch T20 and don't even really pay attention to that.

All the popularity of T20 is going to do is increase the rate at which cricket is stratifying between teams that can afford to play test cricket and those who can't.

I know people have said it before, but this feels like the end for test cricket, most of the smaller boards can't afford to host them and realistically we might be only left with Aus, Eng and India playing in 50 years time.

Who goes to Shield or County games? No one, and not for a while, in all honesty, cricket seems to be already dead. LONG LIVE T20.

Being a Punjab fan I caught the game today and it was not the best of entertainment today with Bangalore making just over 120 and Punjab just getting over the line. Was also glad to see Johnson bowling with a bit of venom as we have all seen he can do. It's surprising to me how despite the IPL India cannot produce one decent pace bowler who regularly clocks up 145+ and with a bit of consistency. The likes of Ishant Sharma and many other pacers have really been ruined and never fulfilled their potential.
