The Sri Lankan batting is strong - stronger than Australia at the moment. With Mendis bowling trash, I'm somewhat apprehensive about their bowling though.

the sri lankan batsmen have excellent records in asia but other than sangakarra dont everywhere else, they have alot to prove on this tour. especially dilshan and samaraweera who have played 50+ of their 60 odd tests in asia

Yup. I think the current England team would be the clear favourites at home against any side except South Africa. Would be surprised if England didn't win the series quite comfortably.

Yeah, Sanga is by far their best player of pace, though he is somewhat suspect against good spin. On the other hand, Mahela, Samaraweera and Chandimal are outstanding players of spin bowling.
This series (and the one after that against India) would be a stern examination of Swann as a spinner too. IMHO, would be a defining series in terms of how good a spin bowler Swann really is.
