Don't think Giggs' "ego" would stop him staying on as assistant or reserve team manager. IMO that is exactly what he will want. I think he knows it is too soon to be permanent manager.

I don't think Giggs is the issue. The problem is more likely to do with Butt, Scholes and Neville.

Butt can always drop back to the reserves. He was there two months ago so I don't see it as an issue for him. But Giggs and Phil will want to stay on the first team staff but with LVG bringing in his own coaches there will be to many.

Giggs can be assistant manager and Phil can be assistant coach or something... Butt and Scholes back to the reserves.

Yes if there was any truth in this I would be disappointed. No one man is bigge rthan the club and to lose out on a potential top class manager because people want to hold on to some kind of glorious romantic ideals would be troubling. United dare not mess up another managerial appointment so they need to tread carefully here.

I'm sure Giggs is fully aware he isn't remotely qualified to take on the United job full time yet. You need to earn that right.

Pep was also a very different situation, Barca have a very clear philosophy that Pep was brought up with. He and the club knew exactly what they wanted from him as well as being able to add his own knowledge which he learnt from people such as Bielsa. Giggs is still very much an unknown quantity.

I think Giggs is smart enough to know that he isn't ready yet, although he enjoyed his first taste and will no doubt enjoy the next few matches...

Of course let him enjoy it but I hope from the day he was given temporary management he was clearly told it would not be extended whatsoever.

I'd imagine LVG would love to have a player of Scholes' technical ability coaching

B ullshit, I managed my University football team and a variety of underage teams.
Could never string together a good league performance and cup run, it was always one or the other

Not my opinion, but the reports suggest united want some form of continuity and this "may" be a stumbling block- that is all.

Having SAF's minions in the dressing room seems more of a hinderance than a help. Everything will be compared to SAF and there will be only one winner there.
