I think we overpaid for him but he’s certainly a £20million + player. I am delighted with his acquisition and love what he brings to the team. It is tough to judge him on one season and he will need to improve in certain areas, namely more goals and assists but I think that will come next year. His work rate and pace are brilliant either covering defenders or on the counter. At 25 he’s at a good age too. Would be wasted not playing CL football.

The thing with playing for Brasil is given the huge pool of talent they have to select from and the fact that their country is so far from where the majority of their best players are based geography comes in to play. Brasilians based in Russia and the far eastern leagues rarely get selected and have to do a lot more than their western European and South American counterparts do. I’m sure in time Willian will become a regular based in London.

We definitely overpaid for Willian but I'm very glad we have him in the squad.

He is willing to run all day long and that asset is invaluable when combined with good tecnique and ability which Willian clearly has.

I think Willian can improve but considering this was his first season I think he did rather well overall.

Mata should have stayed on and oscar should have been the one to move, i still think mata's peak years are ahead of him and i can see him giving united a good 2 to 3 season's of that,possibly one a title winning one

It constantly shocks me to see how many fans can't see Willian's benefit to the team. I'm betting that Mourinho sees him as an "untouchable" in the team now - and it is only his first season. It took him a few weeks to get used to the speed of the Premier League after playing in the much slower Russian league - but after that he has been one of our best and most consistent performers.
£30M is just an arbitrary figure that we were willing to pay - it doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean he should therefore be able to create or score goals in the same way that Mata could. He can play other roles that very few other players can. No doubt he can improve - but we can say that about any of our players. For me, he is worth much more than we paid for him. He would be my first name on the team sheet every time. Fantastic team player. Fortunately, Mourinho is much smarter than most of the posters here - and is able to see Willian's huge benefits to the team.

i Was led to believe that eto came with the deal for willian, we got eto for free.
I would say about £8 mill was for eto. so we only paid £22 for willian. Who has been better than oscar, and dare I say hazard, since febuary.

Well if it was £30m for the two of them than that is not bad. I just want you to look at every freekick that Willian has taken for us honestly 70% dont even clear the first man. I observed this ever since Mata left we suck at set pieces, it was no joke Ivanovic get like 10 goals last season.
