Definitely Ramsey mate

I'm not a huge Walcott fan but his presence will be greatly missed from this squad.

there are a lot of players with no WC experience in there

for all the lampard bashing he has experience winning everything at club level and been to every internation comp multiplle times

the new kids need an old head there to help them through it all.

I actually disagree with this and I am a huge Lampard fan.

I don't see what Frank will bring to the table this summer. He'll turn 36 this World Cup and watching him this season he's finished as top level player.

We already have an "old head" in Gerrard. How many old heads do we need?

This was the tournament for Roy to bring as many top class young future England players as possible.

Bringing Lampard just prevents a future England player from getting much needed tournament experience.

No surprises....

so...predictions for our group games

Uruguay 3-0 defeat
Italy 1-1 draw
Costa Rica win 2/3-1

we go home on four points whilst Uruguay & Italy progress on six & five respectively...

2 wouldn't hurt

and if we make it to the knockouts I'd like him available for penalties

I actually wanted Danny Murphy in the squad years back for similar reasons

you get 20 outfield players and will never need them all - having a penalty machine on the bench isn't a bad shout IMO

I still disagree.

We have plenty of older heads in squad apart from Gerrard (Rooney, Cahill, Baines, Lambert) and if you're bringing a player just to take pens then its Lambert, not Lampard.

Lampard isn't necessary, especially as he is very much on the decline now sadly.

31 year old Phil Jagielka is another old head in the squad.

The squad is full of old heads. Too many with the inclusion of Lampard.

I am actually quite pleased with the squad. I think Hodgson has made the right decisions, and it is great to see the likes of Ox, Sterling, Barkley and Shaw all going. I think going with a young squad is the way forward.

Now can Roy can get the best out of them, I somewhat doubt it.

The upside is that we have a lot of pacy younger players that we can have give everything for 60 mins then have someone of very similar quality come on in place.

Ox, Sterling, Lallana

Barkley, Henderson, Milner(not young but will bust a gut and be a team player)

we'll need to rotate effectively to deal with the climate and have high impact subs.

Milner has actually been playing very well recently. Changed the game at Anfield.

england defence and goalkeepers are good. The rest of the team is embarrassing. Worst midfield chemistry for players to choose from. I knew carrick shouldn't have played in those qualifiers, he came back to england on promise to be a part and got used again for average players like gerrard, Barkley, lampard on current form. I never understood how the best passer in the league in carrick gets dismissed for kick and rush poor passing positional players like gerrard.

Average players all of the 3 are better than carrick. kick and rush lol thats a typical man Loser fan answer. Gerrard is Englands best player of his generation, and Carrick has had a poor sesaon hence hes on the standby list. If u took Gerrad out and replace dwith carrick they struggle big time.

Whereas now, England are world-beaters(!!)

Gerrard is nto the best player of his generation by any stretch, particularly for England.
