I've came close to getting hit by lightening on an Island off of Istanbul. I hate when people don't realise how mental lightening is or how dangerous it is.

Yup, get the flock outta there...

I was on a big Island (buyukada) and the storm hit. We were on a ferry going to the smaller Island (sedef adasi) and my sis had a house there and as we got off the ferry my sis and brother in law we ran and lightening was going off all over. No cars on the small island at all. I looked behind and seen a bolt hit about 20 yards away. Never been so scared with weather before.

I would love to see a tornado though in the flesh. Not if it was tearing through my house though.

Little know fact though, did you know the UK get's more tornados per year than the USA? We just get smaller ones, but we do get more of them.

Actually, I knew that <smartasssmiley> Its scary, the sky turns green, and then it hits.....rivers of water coming from the sky and wind that is just unimaginably strong....only lasts a few minutes, but the devastation is horrendous, and that is "only" been an F2 that I've seen....

Would love to see one. As I love the feeling of being scared in a storm and feeling small.

The only main fear I have is of heights and not good with flying after a plane almost crashing on landing and the whole plane screamed including the air hostesses!

But weatherwise I like the scaryness of that. Dying to see a tornado.

Running to the wooden house basement in America seems slightly pointless. The houses may as well be tents. Have they not heard of bricks and mortar or concrete reinforced basements? Seems mental

I would have a concrete basement, with supplies and a metal reinforced roof on the basement and a metal door on it at least.

I'm not buying it, you aren't in tornado alley and this is the real clincher - You aren't even mentioned in the Wizard of Oz. Kansas gets the mention.

That is what does my head in....Environment Canada will only confirm a Tornado several days later after inspecting the damage...Video footage of rrofs getting blown off isn't enough for these cvnts..
