England had no DM in the whole squad left both Carrick and Barry out.
Jose's defence is based on the team as a whole rather than the back four so it doesn't follow that adding new attacking players to the side/squad will mean the defence is as solid as last season unless the new guys buy into his ethos. I'm pretty sure he'll get it right but it should not be assumed we will defend as well but score/attack more. Something might give
